bennett doesn't have many secrets (and it's hard to keep any in a guild full of dads and investigators, anyway) but there are three things he did without actively telling anyone:

one, he (badly) imitated the Cavalry Captain's swordsmanship after seeing him in the training yard

two, he makes frequent trips to the library after spending any time around Fischl in order to look up all the long words she just used (and he keeps a spare dictionary under his bed)

three, he still writes poetry, though this isn't a secret on purpose - no one has asked

usually it's scratching his head or neck or messing with his hair or covering his face with his hands. given that his gloves are usually covered in road dust and soot, these aren't great habits to have, and by the end of a difficult conversation he looks like someone found him in a fireplace and then dragged him through a hedge. luckily, he looks like that most of the time anyway.

Lumine sighed as she bandaged the other adventurer up yet again. She didn't mind fixing him up every once in awhile, but she worried for him when they were apart, y'know? Once all the bandages were applied and Lumine double checked, she placed a sweet, light kiss to every one of the new bandages, finishing with a quick peck to his forehead

"Be careful, dummy"

Bennett was pretty cheerful about the whole thing - injuries rarely seemed to get to him, anyway, but having someone else there to patch him up was a huge mood booster. Still...

Flushed red with his face firmly planted in his hands, Bennett let out a muffled groan of embarrassment at the kisses she was giving him. "Lumine-!" He forced a laugh. "I think my whole brain is turning off..."

⚪ - what are small things that mean something to your muse

sticking-plasters/adhesive bandages. people will often offer him spares to fix himself up, and he keeps all of them. they tend to get actively used up, too, so it's not like he's squirreling them away forever, they're really useful to him! but they're like the ultimate symbol of people caring about him - and even if he doesn't always get the chance to wax sappy about it, if you hand him a bandage he'll take it in good faith that you're wishing him luck.

❓ - can your muse be indecisive?

he can, but it doesn't happen often. he usually assumes the most straightforward response to a situation is the best one. there's not much point overthinking things when his plans are bound to go wrong anyway, right?

that said, if it's about somebody else's safety, he might spend a while deliberating...

☠️ - does your muse fear death?

no! not at all. [cw: some pretty unorthodox thoughts on death]

he's made his peace with the fact that his bad luck might cut his life pretty short, and it's not like he's picked the safest of careers to begin with.

the other older adventurers at the Guild are forever saying that adventurers shouldn't fear death - it's an occupational hazard! growing up in that kind of atmosphere will put you in some kind of mindset, i tell you what.

...still. sometimes he lies awake thinking about it, and thinking about how there's stuff he still wants to do, and friends he wants to grow old with... it's times like these he doesn't feel quite so brave about it. don't tell cyrus. or anybody. in fact he's never going to bring this up and it's totally fine that no one knows he thinks about it, so there*

MOVEMENT. bennett can't sit still at the best of times and sometimes i lament my commitment to keeping my posts concise because if i could make everyone sit through 9 paragraphs of description of all the buckwild hand movements and fidgeting and general posing/moving around that bennett is doing at all times i feel like it'd be more accurate.

as it is, that'd be difficult to read and doesn't add much to a roleplay, so i limit myself a bit and you all just have to take my word for it for the most part... but yes, he gets a hundred times more animated and makes wilder and wilder gestures when he's happy.

(if it's an excited/passionate type of happy, he also tends to accidentally trigger his Vision at inopportune times. though this happens so often regardless that it's sometimes hard to tell what kind of emotion made him set things on fire)

🙈 - can your muse be blindly loyal?

absolutely. if he cares about someone (which really isn't a high bar - he cares about total strangers) then he'd fiercely protect them. he likes to assume the best of people! his friends (and old adventure team members) get the special privilege of bennett looking at them like they could do no wrong. which, in the case of people like royce, can be to bennett's detriment...

🤞 - what’s the most impulsive thing you can picture your muse doing

bennett is already so impulsive by nature that this is kind of a tough question to answer, because in the right context there's probably almost nothing he wouldn't run headlong into!

that said, if there was ever a crazy end-of-the-world, battle-for-teyvat type situation, i can very much picture him making some kind of valiant last stand, knowing he didn't have a chance. maybe sounds dramatic, but i think we all know there's absolutely no way he'd turn and run if other people were in danger, even if all he could buy them was a second or two.

hibiscus :   how does your muse view the gentler ,   daintier things in life ? as things worth preserving   &   caring for ,   or things only bound to wither   &   disappear ?

Bennett knows things inevitably will not go well for him, but it doesn't mean he holds that to other people, or the world at large. He's a strong believer that with enough hope and perserverance, you could save the world!

Gentle and dainty isn't weakness, either - and even if it was, what's the point in having strong people around if they don't protect the weak, right? Bennett holds that the world needs more kindness in it, not more apathy.

To imply that "weakness" ought to be left to wither and disappear is probably a very easy way to make Bennett upset - and a little angry. After all, if the adventurer who found him held that belief, Bennett wouldn't be here today.
