Found this oddity in a local second hand book store. It looks like a choose your own adventure type book but using choosing your stats and dice to roll for some events.

I’d never heard of this before so I had to pick it up, but it says ‘book only’ on the price label so I’m wondering what else would have come with it.

PROTEUS MAGAZINE - MIKE KENWARD EDITOR - 1984-1988 - Proteus was a UK magazine that published an entire paragraph picking game book in each issue. Being English it was directly inspired by the Fighting Fantasy series however, it seemed to run at the same time & for longer than Fighting Fantasy’s Warlock magazine. Each issue is full of uninspired, not-great, black & white art & included a full color poster. For the issue I have it’s by Les Edwards. I’m just stoked that something like this existed. I love magazines & game books! Imagine getting a big stack of magazines every month & just digging through them. I don’t have to imagine it - I used to do it. We need to build the audience & infrastructure for magazines & other cultural frameworks we’ve lost to the big digital turnover. But look, if the people are sold on magazines again - that builds up a part of what we’ve lost & is part of the necessary reconstruction of humanity that needs to be done.

I fucking thought I can show off the very cool book I have the Halo Mythos. I can learn more on the lore as I did play out the main games and seen that live action Fall of Reach when it used to be on Netflix. This will further spice up my knowledge especially when I obsessively read up into the Halo wiki. Such as that even though Master Chief is consider lucky soldier, I wouldn't call it lucky being kidnapped at young age and gotten replaced by a clone that takes my place and die shortly letting my family fucking assuming I die. There is fucking also when there is that disease ridden Flood that will fucking affect everyone like a dark plague reign over the entire galaxy. And also when there is fucking that rebel group and UNSC reminding me of the time when I fucking played out Halo Wars.

This book is by @haridraws, who is amazing, and it is amazing and incredible, a choose-your-own-path book that is complex and deep and original and made me experience Feelings and also has such a lineup of incredible artists I'm still amazed to find my work among them. Also there is a whole side-quest about woodlice this thing kicks ass.
