IF list with playersexual ROs only (no poly, no ROxRO, no ROxNPC)

I made this list for myself, but decided to share it in case someone else, just like me, doesn't like when in game ROs can date someone else or each other. Yes, even if I'm not on their route. I am very selfish, jealous type, so my ROs must be playersexual only. So it's a list of IFs with no poly, no ROxRO, no ROxNPC. Strictly mono/solo routes, but with hint of jealousy/love triangles if you flirt with different love interests at once.

Arcadie: Second-Born and Arcadie: Cold Lands by @sofia-d-asb

This game features 3 ROs. In the first book, two love interests can be jealous of the MC, if you flirt with them both at once. The third option is secret, and in the next book, it may become available as a full route only through specific choices.

The Golden Rose by @anathemafiction

This game features 9 stunning ROs! All nine are monogamous and devoted solely to the MC. Alongside the gripping plot and incredible atmosphere, you’ll experience the loyal and exclusive love of your companions. That said, flirting with multiple characters won't go unnoticed and will be clearly reflected in the narrative.

In the first book, you'll need to lock in one character's route, and they will remain your only LI throughout all subsequent books. There is also a separate love triangle route that has caused plenty of pain and drama for those who chose it. Character jealousy pops up in small scenes, with everyone expressing it in their own unique way.

There are 5 ROs in this game. At first, you can flirt with everyone at once, but you’ll have to pick one romance and lock it in during the first book. This choice will become your main route for all sequels. The situation with the mysterious RO is a bit more complicated, but that’s something you’ll have to figure out for yourself while playing.

Merry Crisis features 3 ROs, while CTOS has 4 ROs. Neither game features poly routes; every RO is monogamous and stays loyal only to the MC. However, in CTOS jealousy is portrayed much more vividly in the narrative. If the MC flirts with multiple characters simultaneously, it will lead to noticeable narrative consequences.

God Cursed

There are 4 ROs and 1 mysterious RO in this game. The author’s main post specifically notes about no-poly to avoid any unnecessary questions. Each character loves MC, offering unconditional and exclusive devotion for MC and MC only.

This game features 7 ROs and a unique romance mechanic. In a separate post, the author detailed an entire system involving romance points, ROs jealousy, and character interactions. That same post explicitly states that all love interests are strictly 'playersexual' and there will be no poly routes. Jealousy is portrayed vividly in the writing, with noticeable and significant consequences.

There are 5 ROs in this game, each with their own personality, backstory, and unique chemistry with the MC. You can flirt with all of them until you lock in one RO romance. Subtle jealousy scenes will trigger in the text if you flirt with multiple characters.

There are 4 ROs in this game, plus 1 RO who will only become available closer to the epilogue. Your MC can flirt with everyone, explore different preferences, and even have casual flings. The ROs might show jealousy, but it won’t lock you out of other flirting options. You won’t have to officially lock in your romance until the very last book, near the finale.

The Difference Between Bisexual and Player-Sexual Characters

Okay, someone on Discord asked me about this rant I posted on Sunday. They asked where I would draw the line in a game between a romancable character who is bisexual and a player-sexual character.

And I would say, it is actually fairly simple.

A bisexual character is bisexual/pansexual outside of their romance quest - a player-sexual character isn't.

Basically, when you have a character who is clearly shown to be bisexual even when you do not romance them, it is a bisexual/pansexual character and it is proper bisexual/pansexual representation. But if a character is only interested in one particular gender when the player character romancing them has that gender, then the character is player-sexual.

Now, it should be noted, that at least I am willing to cut a game a bit more slack on that front, when not all characters are player-sexual. But in general, this is the rule most people go by.

How do you go about having a character be bisexual/pansexual outside of the romance quest?

Well, by having the player interacting with the character outside of the romance storyline hear/read stuff like this:

The character talking about former partners of different genders

The character comments on the looks of different gendered other characters

The character talks with the player character about what they want in a partner

You know, just dialogue that acknowledges that the character is into more than one gender.

When the Nights Comes Review

Pros:

✔ You can choose your own pronouns. She/Her, He/Him, They/Them. ✔ LGBT romances and Poly Relationships if you want. ✔ Lovely Story and world. ✔ Lovely artwork. ✔ Lovely soundtrack. ✔ Bonus side stories post main story. ✔ There is an option for a "bad ending". ✔ When you buy the story, you get the entire story + Additional content. ✔ Warnings (in-game) for potential triggers and how to avoid them! ✔ If you don't want to read sex scenes you can skip them.

Cons:

❌ The artwork can be inconsistent in terms of style. ❌ One of the ploy ships does not work for me personally. ❌ Can feel a little short. ❌ For the most part, there are no "choices" beyond romance or not to romance. ❌ The world can feel small. But it works for the story. ❌ Partially voice acted. Personally, I'm not a fan of only certain lines being voice acted, but damn if this cast doesn't have lovely voices. So I sort of let it slide. If you are not a fan, you can just turn the voice volume down, essentially muting it.

So I enjoyed this one. Because I can sit down and play through a character route from beginning to end at my own pace! There are however a view things I want to nit-pick, because I can.

First piper wonderful character, complete badass and I love her voice actresses giggle snort. Perfect. Her design, however....I think the vitiligo should have a deeper pinker contrast. Another nit-pick that I have is the Alkar/Omen/Hunter(You) poly ship. To me this poly ship is lesser than the Ezra/Finn/Hunter(You) ship. Because (to me) it feels like you (the hunter) are getting in between Alkar/Omen at times, whereas Ezra/Finn poly ship feels more like you are actually included and wanted in this relationship.

Plus I dislike the designs of Alkar and Omen. Demons should not have dainty bottom row fangs, if you want bottom row fangs commit and make them orc like. Also while on the subject of Omen, his noodle tail! I hate noodle tails. Noodle tails are stupid. Alkar the four-eared half were-wolf (don't ask me how that works because???? that'll just set me off ranting) has a nice tail. His is a fluffy tail. A good nice fluffy tail! Ezra is amazing and all this shit would collapse without him. Finn is a vampire with a mechanical arm, voiced by Gideon Emery and is just so perfect. Them together amazing, them together with the hunter amazing. All-around amazing. Ezra's relationship is interested in that he can be the sub or dom, you are often given the choice to choose whether you wish to submit or take control or neither. This also applies to the Ezra/Finn/Hunter ship somewhat as well. Piper I have commented on but it bares repeating, I love her. I would kill for this woman, she could crush my ribs and I would be grateful to her for it! She is wonderful, just ugh! I love her so much. Then there is August. I woud die for them. I love them. The moment they appeared in their fine clothes and that fur coat I knew this was the person for me. This was my character who I would cherish. They are perfect, from their voice actor to their very character (they need more sleep dam it) to the fact they unashamedly read smut! I won't get into spoilers because you should (if you can) play this and find out for yourself, but oh I love all of these characters.

SWTOR: Inquisitor and Warrior Swap Romance Options

Hear me out. Sith Inquisitor but with vette as the romance option. THEN the class is perfect. think about it. Vette is a former slave... so the Inquisitor will be able to relate to her. also... Vette likes robbing tombs and stealing ancient secrets, the Inquisitor's Job is literally seeking sith secrets. Her and Talos Drellik would be besties and best team EVER.  Can you imagine the nerd sessions between the three?  Her and fellow duel wielding former pirate Andronikus Revel would be besties also. Vette is, also into bdsm. she mentions bringing her shock collar into the bedroom. *alternate dialoge* = "I could always use force lightning?" Vette: hmm... might hurt, but honestly? lets try both. *fade to black* Vette: Ok Both is good.  

This stems mostly from the fact that imo, Wrath is a glorified executioner wheras the Inquisitor helps run the temple. and I get the whole Ashara appeal... but uh... Vette > Ashara. Vette is the girl who made me realize my first swtor waifu Mako, is not as good. literally only reason i hate vette, is if i had to choose, i’d break poor mako’s heart. and mako is my first love.

But seriously.  Give Asharra to the Warrior, let jeasa go batshit crazy and then you have lightside apprentice romance and darkside apprentice romance.

ALSO. VERY good chance that due to the Inquisitor’s powerbase and resources, Vette’s family gets reunited with her mom ALIVE. so happy endings all around.  Also, imagine everything the Inquisitor could do for slave rights in the Empire, with him and his SO being former slave themselves? an anti slavery Dark Council Member? seriously?
