also while we’re at it im playing with this au idea for LPs awooo (and eventually the 2012 version too) where theyre all anthropomorphic college students attending the admittedly prestigious pawtucket university. lowkey it has lps popular undertones in that its mildly cliquey (just so I can have an excuse for Petula and co. to have some social significance)
pawtucket uni is famous for its celebrity instructors (puggerson teaches theatre, for example, and both shug and Bree are sports coaches) and its connections (wisteria and tarry tarantulian and even shepbourne show up to do panels sometimes) networking is what the school is especially known for. its hard to get in but roxie and co. managed.
Petula’s posse def had an easier time getting in because like. gavin, Mitchell, and Petula are loaded (gavin especially. his family owns one of if not biggest international luxury hotel franchises (if such a thing were to exist). sweetie comparatively is economically disadvantaged but she and Mitchell were childhood friends and she also did exceptionally well in high school. i think shes big into communications 🙂↕️
gavin is a theatre kid. he likes the artistry of course, but there’s something about being adored for your craft by hundreds of eyes that he hungers for. his parents love him of course, but theyre always away on business and tend to replace emotional involvement with money or extravagant gifts so gavin finds a lot of catharsis in theatre. you know what else is cathartic? constantly arguing with Edie while on stage. puggerson actually quite enjoys the rivalry because it gives them both drive. Edie feels like gavin is a nepo baby and that’s something gavin is insecure about because he knows he’s worked to get where he is , but he also kinda has to recognize that he has had plenty of safety nets that Edie has not had. He worries Edie has a hunger that he never had to develop. or something. but its ok they kiss about it
