I am very Not Normal about Gawain and Guin.
Headcanon : Guin learns how to care for Gawain’s spines/dreadlocks, she does them when he’s too tired to care for them himself. Sometimes Gawain pretends he’s exhausted for the attention, Guin knows he’s pretending but she doesn’t care.
Ohhh yes I adore Gawain and Guin looking after each other's hair/spines!!! Gawain has braided Guin's hair before many an excursion, and Guin has combed through and cleared out twigs and leaves from his spines more times than she can count.
Plus Guin is very touchy feely and this is something that doesn't fluster Gawain into a puddle (as much fun as that is, sometimes they just want to be calm and content together). It's a sweet little bit of care that lets them chat comfortably or just sit in happy silence.
Day 4: Moon
Gawain was known to admire the sky at night. His innate sense of direction was born from following the skies, and there was something about the night that cleared his mind and set him on the right path.
His strength was phenomenal, near godly during the day, but at night, it waned, leaving clarity in its wake.
During the day, Gawain fought, but at night, he thought. He ruminated over his orders, born from loyalty and from his own heart. He considered his life, his choices, and everything that had a hand into making him into the knight he was today.
Up above, shining down to ponder alongside him, was the moon, a twin guardian who only shared its wisdom when night fell and the world stood still.
Do Gawain, Gheris, and Gareth all have traditions that they celebrate around the castle? Do any other Knights have traditions?
I'm sure Angel Village had some area-specific traditions. Some might be similar to G.U.N. traditions, given that the territory was once split by both kingdoms! The main things that come to mind are memorials for specific events in the village's history and some more observed days for their primary values (utmost loyalty to one's family, celebrations of love and joined souls, etc.).
Some knights would have some other traditions! Namely Sir Tristan and Sir Bors, since neither grew up in Avalon. They would bring over some ideas or practices from their own original kingdoms (also applies to Enid, Yseult, Guin, and Vivien). Otherwise it's mainly the worldwide religious celebrations!
I don't have any particular ideas or examples to give at the moment but I hope this is a good answer!
When ranking the Knights by strength, do they mean physical strength or just overall power?
If you’re talking physical then Gawain would’ve at least been higher ranked than Geraint, no?
Overall power and I suppose potential.
In Lancelot's case, it's very much due to his well-roundedness in speed, strength, durability, etc. He's very hard to beat, even with incredible powers, hence his shock when he was captured and his relief when he realised it was because it was a god doing the work. Lancelot can usually figure out where he matches up with an opponent and then lean on a different fighting style to take the win (for example, against Gawain, Lancelot wouldn't try to overpower Gawain, but would shift to his speed or try to outsmart him).
Gawain is physically much stronger than Geraint. Gawain is physically stronger than Lancelot. But Geraint has the ability to turn someone's mind against them with his illusion magic and that degree of power is absolutely ridiculous when in the right hands.
And then there's Lamorak, who can hold his own against these people without even using his gravity powers. Lamorak has long since accepted that he won't be the greatest knight (Lancelot claimed that title and destiny when they were young, and Lamorak (and Geraint) quickly realised it — the difference between him and Geraint is that Lamorak accepted it while Geraint resented it). But that's honestly fine with him; Lamorak doesn't care for that particular form of glory. He wants to be the best at what he's best at (horseback riding, jousting, etc.) and to be a great knight. Great, not the best, but still legendary in his own little corner of talent and feats.
And then there's Galahad and Percival, who are definitely going to be the strongest knights when they grow up. Not even Lancelot will be able to hold a candle to them and he's going to be so proud.
And there is one knight who is going to get... Well, that's a spoiler. But let's say there's going to be a knight within the timeline of RtA who will achieve power far beyond anyone else.
I left this au alone for almost a year but the notification mentioning "Gawain" and "gym" has awakened me
Gawain chugs protein powder and can bench press a truck.
