“naturally,” geltie remarks quietly.

“it’s a good thing it appears her attempt was half-hearted at best.”

“i asked her to, you know. to do this. to take her anger out on me. i wanted to make her a sith. i had no regard for her as she was. i almost wish she had done worse. then i could wallow in self-pity.”

talos blinks at his lord’s candid confession. he has no idea what to say and it might be best to just... be silent and listen.

“in the end, i didn’t understand her at all.” he idly traces a new, puckered, pink scar near his left nipple.

“but she understood you,” talos remarks.

“she did. she truly did.”

he’s an idiot.

he sees her on yavin and, for the first time in weeks, removes his mask.

and he smiles. it’s a very tiny smile, but she sees it and offers a tiny smile back.

there are no hard feelings. there is no tension between them. he finally sees her for who she is: an equal.

she would have made a good sith, but she was an even better jedi.

he gasps for breath as he feels the knife slice easily upward through sinew and bone and stealing his breath away.

he knows what he has done.

it cannot be undone.

she escapes into the night, his deshade howling his contempt for all of dromund kaas to hear. yet he feels nothing. he is empty.

he no longer minds.

pieced together like so much broken glass he will never be whole again unless he is reforged by fire.

yavin calls to him now.

or the wall upon which he will irreparably shatter.
