The Case Against Fournier Beaudry/Cizeron (What You Should Know Before Watching the Olympics)
Gabriella Papadakis’s Memoir Alleges a Disturbing Pattern of Abusive Behavior from Cizeron
An abuse investigation. A new French ice dance team. And a gold medal up for grabs
Fuck the ISU, fuck Ice Academy of Montreal+their coaches, fuck NBC, fuck almost every French newspaper, fuck the French skating fed, fuck Fournier Beaudry, fuck Cizeron, fuck Sørensen, and fuck every person and organization who has and continues to enable this culture within the sport, to the point of not only ignoring this behavior, but rewarding it (and its shitty twizzles).
i didn't want this
Marian M. Miller: "In 2009, Dragon Age: Origins carried me through my PTSD after being assaulted overseas. In 2025, it is my greatest honor to announce that I am the Caretaker in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. I cried when I read the script, so grateful that I was a part of this team. Thank you Jo Berry" [source]
Sara Secora: "I kept this one on the burner in respect of the strike. Now that it’s over… I was given the opportunity to step into Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Being in games that I love is the thing of dreams. Thanks to the team for the chance! You’ll hear me as Anxious Spirit, Ida and more!" [source]
it seems that with the [tentative agreement] being reached, actors can talk more freely about their recent work again ♡
thinking about that scene in the nightmare orphanage again and how showing us the slab and the straps and the alembic, the way clara walks towards it dulled eyed, tells us how things went down without directly portraying the assault on screen...
The way she “mechanically" straps herself down is chilling, a kind of traumatic muscle memory, her body, her mind, replaying what was done to it.
Because the Parabolan Orphanage isn’t the building itself, but the memory of it. The dream-manifestation of trauma, of all the trauma, and horrors that were held within it. It makes her fall back into the same script, the part she was forced into.
It’s not just the violence of the restraints and the moon-milk, but the erosion of resistance in that moment. She armed herself, she was ready to face Edward. But the nightmare forces her back into what was, even if just for a moment. Even for someone prepared, that weight is overwhelming.
The body keeps the score....
not sure if you've ever posted about this but i was just thinking: if we analyze Vriska from a transfeminist perspective, the circumstances surrounding her death are obviously illustrative of accusing a trans woman of violence which she did not commit (and the others are manipulated into believing it was her by the actual perpetrator)... but would i be wrong to say her actual death has some visual similarity to herself being the victim of an act of sexual violence?
Even as a guy who firmly believes the story has a vested interest in critiquing narratives that misrepresent transwomen, I don't think reading Gamzee's framing of Vriska as a transmisogynist thing is particularly self-evident. Not that I'm especially against it either -- Gamzee seems to have played the gay/homophobic judge in Seek the Highblood, so a reprisal wouldn't be out of line, but in that case the subject of crossdressing was subtly foregrounded before the killing by having characters exchange clothes. I'd want something along those lines, that foregrounds Vriska as trans just prior to her death (or which positioned Terezi as the gay/homophobic judge), before I accepted the framing.
2. Even as a guy who believes a great deal of violence in Homestuck is sexualized, I can only say Probably re: Vriska's stabbing cause I don't know what else that sexualization would accomplish, if that were the case. Like when Dave's sword went from half-mast to fully extended as he ponders killing his alt-self, the visual gag of sword-as-boner is there to suggest Dave is attracted to himself and that "killing himself" and undergoing the godtier metamorphosis would be tantamount to like, accepting he has gay thoughts. With Vriska I'm not sure what this reading would tell us, besides "Terezi's aggression towards Vriska is erotic", which people already gather from her aggressive denial of harboring caliginous sentiments. Also it's not clear to me what John getting back-stabbed in the same manner by Jack would communicate, under this framework. I'm inclined to assume the parallel between John and Vriska is the main pathway for signification here but it's lost on me
I'd also generally caution you against assuming that violence representing sex means that all violence is rape -- in the example with Dave for example, I don't think the suggestion is that he's considering molesting himself... just that the prospect of killing a man is being used to suggest homoerotic attraction. The scene is a psychodrama, a dream, laying out a scene within the focal character's mind... or something like that. It's been awhile since I focused on this aspect of the story
What Remains | A Rogue One/Andor AU | on AO3
Scarif diverges at the data tower. Krennic shoots Cassian behind himself without turning — eyes never leaving Jyn’s face. He takes her alive.
He has reasons.
What follows is a story about two women on opposite sides of the same problem.
Jyn Erso survives eight months in a cell on Krennic’s ship. She is her father’s daughter. She gets out.
Dedra Meero, four hundred and twelve days into Narkina, gets a visitor. Krennic is rebuilding from a weaker position than he’s ever been in. He has a proposal. She has conditions.
This is a story about parallel survival. About what gets carried out of impossible places. About the gap between what monitoring architecture catches and what it doesn’t. About the difference between the institution and what the institution was supposed to be.
It is, mostly, about what two very different women are capable of when they decide to be.
If you’ve ever wanted a Dedra Meero fic that takes her seriously. If you’ve ever wanted a Jyn Erso fic that doesn’t look away from what happened to her. If you’ve ever wanted both of those things in the same story, talking to each other across the wreckage of the Empire.
This is the fanfic.
cw assault, fucked up family dynamics
ASPD culture is not feeling a goddamn thing when there’s a physical fight in the family, while everyone else is still crying and whining about it days later. Get over it, man. There was no major damage, it lasted maybe a minute max, and my uncle (who started it) left and said we’d never see him again (but he’s said that before so it’s probably bullshit. We’ll see).
Really shows how much more serious physical abuse is taken vs psychological or emotional abuse. My uncle is practically shunned from the family, but my parents are fine after fucking me up, and my grandpa is fine after blaming everything on my dad and other uncle even though they literally did nothing wrong.
Anyway we’ve gotta go to my grandparents for new years, and grandpa has a tendency to take his anger out on the wrong people. So if he gets aggressive, mom’s taking us outta there.
I’ve been in dozens of physical fights, it’s really not that deep man, I wish they’d stop whining right about now. It’s been 3 days.
