"i know i forsaw this but.. i dont know that thing!" bushroot said
Liquidator stares at the object nervously. "A gem destabilizer..it..it instantly poofs any gem it hits..!" "Ding! Give the dog a bone!" Negaduck laughs sadistically. "This time, you clods won't be getting in my way!" He attaches the gem destabilizer to his missile launcher and it sparks with yellow electricity when he fires a glowing missile at them. Drake and the others dodge out of its path and it narrowly misses Goldy, but it makes a swerving path right for Bushroot. "BUSHROOT!!" Liquidator moves in front of him protectively, turning himself into a bubble around Bushroot to shield him from the blast. His defense works in shielding Bushroot from harm, but the impact causes glowing yellow lines to branch out around Liquidator's watery body all the way to his gem. "!!!" His body suddenly comes apart and falls into a puddle of water with his gem in the middle.
"LIQUIDATOR!" Bushroot screamed

gosh i love doing angst of these two
feel free to reblog
So ever since blue diamond talked about non fusion Garnets I've been wanting to draw all the fusion's single gem equivalents starting with Malachite, she has the ability to manipulate poison
Concept: Gem Weapons but with Dark Souls Descriptions Part 3
Part 1
Part 2
A powerful weapon whose energy is patterned after a cruel despot. It has the ability to destroy the physical form while leaving the Gem unharmed. This does not make it a weapon of compassion but of cruelty; delivering pain unto its victim and leaving them at the mercy of those who have none.
The cutting edge of the Empire’s technology. This magic wand is said to have the power to stop monsters the size of mountains in their tracks. It was bestowed to a high ranking agent of the monarchy whose efficiency is matched only by her callousness.
A heavy Pugil Stick wielded by a powerful warrior. It can be split into a pair of maces for dual wielding but its strength is far more evident when joined together.
A Blacksmith, tired of the nonlethal ways of her faction, crafted a tool whose sole purpose was to kill. Though it was unwieldily, and only effective at a limited range its creation caused discord within the ranks. It was never put into production and in the end the only death it caused was to a once cherished friendship.
Yellow Diamond and Gem Destabilizers
Given that YD was shown to have the same zappy powers as the gem destabilizers, I think they’re powered by a yellow diamond.
Not the Yellow Diamond, a yellow diamond. Gem-grade diamonds aren’t very rare in real life. Their market supply is artificially restricted to drive up their price. Could the same be said for the diamonds in the SU canon? The rank of a gem is related to its rarity: there’s lots of the lowly foot soldier rubies, but only a few of the high-ranking sapphires. And (to our knowledge) there have only been four diamonds in existence, ever. If an extra diamond pops up somehow, that could call into question their supremacy. The solution? Shatter the new diamond(s) and use the shards! Each gem destabilizer is powered by a tiny yellow diamond shard.
Alternatively, industrial-grade diamonds are more common than gem-grade diamonds, and can be created artificially, so perhaps such diamonds are deliberately grown for the purpose of being used in destabilizers and other machines or devices.
This is also a potential explanation for why Fluorite has a diamond-shaped gem on her navel- one of her components is an “extra” or “industrial” diamond that escaped being shattered or put into a machine.
Thoughts on Stevens resistance to Gem Destabilizers
So, was discussing some stuff with a friend. This is where my brain went. First, gem destabilizers sort of look like they work similarly to stun guns/tazers. It’s plausible, Gem bodies are made of light, which is electromagnetic radiation. A properly tuned electric charge could potentially disrupt it. Now imagine if the destabilizers are exactly like stun guns, and Steven is so resistant because it’s a particularly weak example of such a weapon, and Gem bodies happen to be particularly prone to that disruption? Like it sets up a resonance and burns out the projector a bit? Anyways, if this theory holds, how much damage would the much more powerful Earth designed equivalents do? If it’s a resonance temporarily burning out what they use to project their bodies, a high power Earth one I could imagine just shattering the gem straight away. Maybe that’s where the instashatter of Breaking Point came from? A supercharged destabilizer?
Some doodles
A couple of Steven Universe things I got while @okensdoodles and I were at Indy Comic Con yesterday, a picture of the famethyst and a gem destabilizer prop, I also got a small PD sticker from one of the many SU cosplayers we saw, we wished them all the best with the movie! More pictures to come possibly.
