I know it seems like a dumb question, but I'm a little confused about the issue of gem weapons, do they create their own weapons? So all gems can have weapons if they want? Were the crystal gem weapons created by bismuth or by themselves?

That's not dumb - it's a fair question, especially if you aren't super familiar/obsessive when it comes to SU lore.

The answer is - yes, gems create their own weapons.

Gem weapons are a kind of temporary projection of their own bodies, which are made of light. They can be summoned - sometimes multiple times in a single fight - and disappear naturally when they take damage.

We see this with the main Crystal gems. In the original show, Steven's weapon is a shield.

They're not made by anyone but the gem themselves, and they're intuitive and personalized - though the gems don't really get to choose what weapon they have. They seem to just have one that doesn't change. Once they discover it - that's it! It's donezo.

Do ALL gems have weapons? It's debatable. I personally like the idea that all gems COULD have weapons, but there are many that never bother to learn how to summon theirs. Maybe because they don't care about it? Maybe because they were never trained to, or asked to try. Maybe because they have other skills and powers that are way more flexible that take the place of a gem weapon.

Regardless, there ARE gem weapons that are just... made.

If you're fighting in the gem war and your summoned weapon ends up being, for example, a shield - well, you're kinda shit outta luck on the offensive side of things. During the war, therefore, Bismuth did indeed act as a weapons supplier to the Crystal Gem Resistance.

She made Rose's sword, for example. That sword isn't summoned nor can it disappear - it's just a well-crafted weapon that Rose carried.

So the answer to your other questions is - kinda both!

Steven Universe and the crystal gems

I wonder what gem polytreat's weapons be lie and what they are. If one or two don't know how to Summon a Weapon so it would be interesting for one or two of them or even how one of crystal gems to train how to summon their weapon.

After some thinking, I decided on the Triple Threat's gem weapons

Sapphire!Henry: She doesn't use a weapon. She uses her ice powers, future vision, and general speed and strength to get around her problems. I don't think Sapphires have weapons, but she does fine without one.

Nephrite!Charles: She's got a GRAPPLING HOOK! I had a little trouble thinking of a gem weapon that would fit her, but when I started listing out things N!Charles would want to do, I realized a grappling hook was perfect. Summoning weapons doesn't come naturally to her, on account of her being made for flying. It's actually P!Ellie who helps her figure out how to summon it, while they're chasing S!Henry. She isn't consistent at being able to summon it until S!Henry joins the team, though.

Pyrope!Ellie: Axe all the way, baby. You know our girl P!Ellie's a heavy hitter. When pulling her weapon out of her eye, the staff part comes first, then once it's emerged the blades come out of either side. Since as a Pyrope she's a natural fighter, she was already good at summoning her weapon before Era 3.

Labradorite!Chellrey: Combining all three of their abilities, L!Chellrey's weapon is a crossbow! Which is really, really hard to draw, hah. In her earliest conceptions she cannot summon her blade weapon - she can barely do much without falling apart. But as the Triple Threat get closer, learn to trust, and eventually fall in love, Chellrey becomes more stable and more powerful, with a more unified look to match.

Hey there!

Yeah, I just wanted a bit of a break with writing and get some things situated life-wise. I do plan to start taking a handful of stories out of that collection and start making them public again. Right now, I'm editing the stories and writing more for them. I would like to have some chapters up so I could quite possibly have a near decent posting schedule. I reckon it'll be a few months before I start posting the stories again. But, we'll see.

Was thinking about potential gem weapons today. The hammer could have been okay but Sardonyx already has that and I didn’t want to tread on that. Scythe could have worked because we’ve seen her use one but it felt lazy. Sickles made me think of the Jester from Darkest Dungeon and then the more I thought about it the more I liked it.

Some ideas for fusion weapons cropped up too but those aren’t set in stone. I am liking the sickles though, for the time being.

RHai There! Since i haven’t posted all day,and promissed both Purple Onyx and Fire Opal weapons,here they are! It was a little hard to think about Purple Onyx’s weapon,but mixing up some thoughts i had about something that uses strength and use hands,i decided to make her weapon a Rowing.Her weapon can also shoot eletric blasts from the circles that represents ruby and sapphire gems,and also could make an eletric shield if she spins it fast. About Fire Opal’s weapon,it’s a flail,not so original but it’s really hard to think in something that isnt jasper helmet with horns lol. Fire Opal can set her Flail on fire,turning it even more deadly,and also can use fire cuts,similiar to energy cuts we saw everywhere on another animations.
