Oh Gemma, your fiancé looks like a beardless Simon😳 the hair, the style, the height… and he is the more unhinged one now?
It seems that new Simon has got the calm yet piercing aura of Baelor 😍 looks dashing even with all those pixels
Bertie Carvel as Simon Foster filming Doctor Foster Season 3 in Hitchin (x)
Obviously, I don't support Gemma and Simon's relationship, but what I do find hot as a bisexual is the chemistry between Suranne Jones and Bertie Carvel. The scenes where they are this close were pure fire, and I'm looking forward to season 3 and seeing them together again.
I have to say it once again, I could never have been an actress because I'm too horny for this shit. I would have caught feelings while filming these kinds of scenes where you have to be so close to someone, but I also wouldn't have been able to keep a straight face and say everything Gemma says to Simon about his cock. I thought it was hilarious, so kudos to Suranne and Bertie for giving us everything in this scene; also, Simon's expressions when Gemma said that were brilliantly acted. That smile of his was so mischievously sexy.
simon is such an instigator 😂😂
“Megan only cares about cady because she was built to care if she could disobey that she would!”
NO Megan cares about cady because everyone else in her life wanted money power or just straight up didn’t care about her other than their jobs to built her.
Sure Gemma “loved” Megan but only loved the science and technology around her
Cady is the only one to see Megan as an equal. Cady saw a friend someone to love and be around forever not just a tool weapon or experiment
Megan cares about cady because cady cares about Megan.
Megan probably forgives cady for what she did in the first movie because she realized that she hurt the only person who loved her, it may have not been physical but it was emotional and mentally harmful
(Also tired of seeing the chucky comparisons. Chucky is a grown ass man who likes killing because it’s “funny” Megan never got to experiences family or a mothers womb or skin to skin she just popped into existence she’s going to react violent)
My Thoughts on Series One of Doctor Foster
For around half of the series, I was not very exited about it. The story was definitely intriguing, with much tension and insight into the experience of a doctor, Gemma, who wants to discover if her husband is having an affair and then deals with the situation. But, while properly uncomfortable and psychologically interesting, it felt like the story lacked something. But then, something clicked, and the series just became something, I did not want to stop watching. It clicked, when I saw more of the husband's - Simon's - mental characteristics and emotions, and from that point, the story started to be an amazing rollercoaster for me. So, the second half of the series? Splendid. Not ideal, but definitely complex, tense, actually crazy, pretty unique, I think. We follow people, whose lifes are just getting destroyed, and it looks very real. I mean, their emotions, distress, falling apart. The main character, Gemma, was really interesting. At first professional, maybe a little distant or stern, but also a happy wife and mother in her 30s, she soon becomes alarmingly fixated on Simon's betrayals. I definitely don't criticise her for being concerned, hurt and angry at her husband, she has every right to feel like this, but some of her reactions are truly concerning. Of course, when it comes to the format of the TV series, her actions make Doctor Foster really compelling. For me as a viewer, it was somehow mind blowing to witness and follow it all. Also, I'm really sorry for Gemma, whose mental situation gets soon visibly very painful. But at the same time, it's evident that she becomes more and more dangerous with time. We too can ask ourselves: How much of it had been her before she learnt about the affair?
Simon, her husband, is another important piece of the puzzle. There are a few scenes, in which he looks almost average, but then things change and we see a more complex person: someone, who can look sexy, a liar, pathetic, a loving father, someone awful and angry, a desperate man, and it's all good too, because it makes him multidimentional. I think that Simon and Gemma somehow take turns to steal scenes in the series. Other characters can be psychologically interesting too, and it's the whole psychological struggle and games that matter a lot in Doctor Foster, alongside the tension.
So, generally speaking, I recommend the series. A "slowburn" maybe, at first, but also... a rollercoaster and worth the wait.
Something else that's quite fascinating about Doctor Foster is the different ways it portrays the charm of its leading characters.
Gemma is the competent, assertive, passionate beauty that's always in motion. She uses that charm for manipulation but it's usually short-term and badly concealed, designed to achieve quick results for urgent matters, and once they are achieved, she grows cold and distant again. The image of unavailable high-value woman is part of her charm, although it is the reason people hate her too.
Simon is shown in a very different light, and the most fascinating part is that we see him both as the audience and from Gemma's perspective. The camera lingers on his face and figure the way it doesn't on any other character. His softness and emotional closeness even with his victims are regularly highlighted. And he gets away with his deception for so long because he's much better at subtle manipulation and emotional intelligence! Which are traditionally feminine qualities!
The series does an excellent job of showing him as the primary source of Gemma's pleasure and comfort so that we understand why she's fixated on him the way she is. Just think about it! Pleasure and comfort! Not protection, not status, not any other things that male characters typically provide that's valuable. And it's the same with Kate! She's the one with money and power, all he does is provide her pleasure and look after their daughter!
