"What the fuck was that?" Gemma almost screamed after she heard a loud bang coming from nearby. She should have known it was a bad idea to come here, but now she was even more on edge than she had been when they'd first gotten here. The idea of coming to the supposedly haunted house had seemed fun when the two of them had joked about it the day before but now that they were here in the dead of night she was terrified. "Do you think it was an animal or something?" Gemma asked before there was another loud thump.

“I think the problem is that I fall in love too fast.” Gemma replied with a small sigh as she dipped her spoon into the carton of ice cream. Her latest boyfriend had dumped her after only three months together and she was arguably probably more upset about it than she should have been.  “Maybe I’m just meant to be alone. I could buy a dog and get myself a nice house in the country somewhere.”

Gemma looked out at the crowd of people who were partying. Many of them seemed to be dancing and having themselves a good night. She continued to scan for her boyfriend as she wondered where he’d gone off to. It seemed that he’d disappeared somewhere with his friends and left her here all on her own. Gemma’s eyes continued to look at the crowd as she tried to decide what to do. She turned to the woman who was next to her in an attempt to make light conversation.  “It seems everyone has reached the dancing portion of the night.”

Gemma jumped up from her bed when she noticed Iara enter her room. Based on the woman’s face, it was not hard for Gemma to realize that something was wrong. Maybe it was just her instincts, but she felt that she was pretty in tune with Iara’s feelings. “What’s wrong? Do I need to beat someone up for you?” She asked although they both knew that Gemma was a lover and not a fighter.
