Theo found himself nodding along to her words, the certainty of them reassuring. "You're right, like I know you're right, and then my mom calls asking me to consider college again and that gets harder to remember."

To be fair his mom was, mostly, understanding but there were times that she had to remind Theo that he could do better. They'd had that exact conversation just days ago hence why he was here now venting to Juliette.

"College is the path that everyone always pushes. But when you look at the numbers, there are so many people who end up working in fields not even related to what they studied." Juliette said with a shake of her head. "I don't get why it is pushed so hard."

"Young people are just ending up with more and more debt and no way to deal with it." Juliette said as she knew if she were younger that she'd have likely been pushed into college again too. Instead, she was still just her family's disappointment.

Evie glanced down at their hands for a second before looking back up at Esme, her smile softening just a little. ❝ I’m glad you came with me then… even if it’s not your usual scene. ❞ Her thumb traced a slow, absent circle against Esme’s hand as they walked, like she hadn’t even realized she was doing it. She let out a quiet laugh, eyes flicking toward the water ahead before drifting back to Esme again. ❝ You don’t have to be a “party person” for me to enjoy having you around, you know. Tonight’s better because you’re here actually. ❞

"There's just a lot of people and I never really know people's intentions." Esme explained as it was the easiest way to explain things. She didn't feel that this was the time or place to get into the deeper trauma of it all. Right now she was just happy to enjoy their time together. "Well, I am happy to be around you too. You are making the night actually enjoyable." Esme said, and she hoped that Evie understood how much those words meant.

"I just feel like I am constantly dragging you down." Destiny said with a sad smile.

"I know, I always wonder if I should take up doing the lottery, just to see if I hit it big time. So I can buy a nice house, maybe with a big pool and not have to work ever again. It beats being on your feet all day and getting insulted by customers." Olive hated people being rude for no reason. "Excellent! What shall we have, some wine? Beer? Whiskey?" She asked with a smile on her lips.

Evelyn nodded her head at Olive's words. "The idea of just making it big and disappearing into the night is so tempting. I'd also just love to be able to give back more." She said as she believed that if she ever became wealthy she'd use the money for good. "Wine sounds good."

"I don't think that it's anybody's preferred way to end their night." She couldn't help but chuckle ever so softly, thinking of the many people who she had to deal with on her night shifts. "I know right! I mean I feel like it was only a few years ago and then I see things like oh this song or this movie is twenty years old, kind of makes me feel super old." She admitted. "They are bringing our fashion back, bucket hats, jelly shoes, it's so strange."

Aspen shrugged their shoulders. "Some people get off on pain and thee thrill of it. But most people understand it's important to try to keep their body safe in order to stay alive." He said as he knew that some people didn't really think that stuff through as much as they should. "I feel like every time I listen to the radio another song from my childhood is now vintage." Aspen said as he shook his head. "I can get behind a good bucket hat."

Bridget's eyes widened at Rowena's words. During all the time that they were friends, Bridget had never gotten the impression that Rowena would want to do anything of that sort with her. "Are you saying that just in general, or because it's something you actually want to do?"

"Sometimes love isn't enough, I guess." Oceana said as she tried to remain as calm as she could. It was hard when she watched her future drift away. "As much as we want it to be."

"I guess so, but I don't really get the logic behind the whole thing. It seems bizarre."

"Extremely introverted. I don't like the attention" Jewel said with a shake of her head, not entirely a lie. She quite liked decorating the birthday cakes, that came through her job, seeing the care people had for others in their lives or sometimes themselves. But with tending to move around a lot due to hunters - not that she was a threat but to some it didn't matter, it was rare she put down roots long enough to make friends who would even notice her birthday.

"It's impossible to avoid attention entirely." Lux said as she knew that there was always going to be reasons that someone will have attention on them. She never minded attention personally, but it was clearly a big deal if Jewel didn't even want for people to know when her birthday was.

Aria was definitely not ready to get clean, nor even admit she had a problem. To her, it was just something she did for fun, to relax. She couldn't open her eyes to the fact that she constantly needed hits to stay, at least, even and not crash. She was oblivious to the ways it weaved into her life. "Yeah an' if yeh need help, love, go ahead," she shrugged a bit. A rough sigh fell from the redhead's lips, moving over to the window she liked to perch on when she smoked. Pushing it open, she lit a cigarette, inhaling deeply and blowing it out the window. "I told yeh, I don't need help. 'm fine. If yeh go' a problem, that's you. Don't push it on me, Jasper. I jus' like ta 'ave a lil' fun sometimes," or more than sometimes, not that she was ready to see that.

Jasper had been where Aria was before. He knew what it was like to feel like you didn't need help. For years Jasper pretended that everything was fine. For years he was in and out of a bad routine. "I am getting help, and doing things to stay clean." Jasper said as he knew his sobriety was important to him staying out of jail. "Maybe us living together isn't the best idea." Jasper said as it was hard to keep everything together when Aria was so close to him and so tempting.

"we weren't meant to last... remember?" voice drips with nostalgia as he sits on the edge of the bed. cassius bends over to grab his bottoms before pushing one foot through a leg. "isn't a relationship on borrowed time better than nothing at all?"

"Well, sometimes things don't go as planned." Heather said with a shrug of her shoulders. She was enjoying things with him more than she thought she would. "It is as long as we are both still enjoying ourselves."

"I mean, sure. If that means you won't drag me outside." Lottie huffed. Despite the absence of a smile on her lips -- smiling was a pain for her facial muscles, okay? -- she hated Faith's company marginally less than average. "Just no action or horror. I'm not in the mood to feel panicked. And no comedies either, they never make me laugh. And you can cross romance off the list too, especially if they're straight. I'd just get pissed."

Faith nodded her head at Lottie's words. "I promise, I won't make you go outside. Lets just relax and have a good evening." She said as she was completely fine with not having to go anywhere as long as she had Lottie's company. Faith let out a small hum at Lottie's series of hard no's. "Well, how about a mystery? Or is that too much brain power for today?" .

"I thought we'd be together forever." Oceana said with sadness in her voice. "But sometimes life doesn't turn out how you think it is going to."

her  smile  grew  at  the  kiss  on  her  cheek  as  she  stepped  inside  fully.  “didn't  know  you  were  a  chef  too,”  she  said  playfully.  elena  made  her  way  to  the  couch  and  sat,  her  things  beside  her.  the  nerves  in  her  stomach  built  up  again  when  he  called  theo,  the  sound  of  feet  scurrying  across  the  floor  growing  louder.  when  he  came  into  the  room,  she  couldn't  help  but  coo  at  the  way  he  ran  to  forrest,  looking  between  the  two  for  a  second.  “hi  theo,”  elena  said,  her  voice  soft,  palms  pressed  to  her  thighs.  “my  name  is  elena,  i'm  very  happy  to  meet  you.”  she  reached  over.  she  grabbed  the  dinosaur  plushie,  hand  extending  to  him.  “and  i  heard  you  like  dinosaurs,  they're  so  cool.”  she  smiled,  glancing  back  at  forrest.

Forrest let out a small chuckle. "I am not a master chef by any means, but I know my way around a kitchen." He said as Forrest had made an effort to get decent at cooking for Theo. He knew his son deserved to grow up in a home where good food was made, and not to just live off of nuggets and fries. He watched the exchange between Elena and Theo, glad that it seemed to be going well. Forrest looked down at his son. "Now what do we say when someone brings us a gift?"
