I want to go see the Jeff Buckley doc, but I don't want to cry for two hours straight.
the Pavlovian response to immediately have sex with 1980s Gaddafi whenever I hear Duran Duran songs on the radio 🤔
BTVS-OG Experience
Watching Buffy as it was originally released consisted of watching 1 episode then waiting 1 full week for the next one. Finishing a season and waiting 4-5 MONTHS for the next one. Using a VHS tape to record each episode and getting so good at pausing the recording during commercials to edit them out. (FYI slow mo was so great on VHS - frame by frame shots of each and every kiss) Now I can watch the whole series back to back on Hulu, except I still have to put up with commercials cause I'm too cheap to pay for Premium streaming.
When you're halfway through a fic before you realize you read it before, but you go ahead and finish it anyway because it's good and you don't remember how it ends.
Let me tell you what life in the 90′s was actually like...
Because I know Tumblr makes it impossible to tell when something was written, it is Wednesday, July 26, 2017.
Please, if you live in the US, call your senators. I mean whatever the hell day it is probably do that anyway I’m sure they’ve pulled some shenanigans recently.
But seriously, I know a lot of you are young and have never had to duct tape a splint to your arm, or superglue a wound, or gone to the grocery store and asked what the best way to fix your bronchitis would be... as long as it costs less than six dollars. Or butterflied shut a knife wound to the belly. Or taken antibiotics for pets. Or decided your foot isn’t broken if you can still move your toes. (It totally was.) Or taken someone else’s codeine for non-recreational purposes. Or learned herbalism just to stay alive when you don’t have a doctor.
(White horehound, btw, is the best way to treat bronchitis with less than six dollars. They did not know that at the grocery store.)
They’re about halfway to sending us back to all that. And yes, I know not everyone has insurance, but NOT having it used to be the norm. Stories like the above were everyone I knew.
“Get a job so your employer gives you insurance,” they say. Yeah... nice thought... FOR ADULTS WITH ABLE BODIES. Half the people on medicaid are children. And it isn’t as though employers provided insurance until they had to. They’re hoping nobody remembers about that.
This is me, reminding you.
Seriously. Call your reps.
I’m going to level with you.
Humorous little signs that reinforce my age to me...
I have guitar picks made out of old vinyl records.
I keep my favorite picks in an old cassette box, I got with some picks I ordered a while ago.
I'm kind of a nerd.
