Hey, this I'd going to sound dumb but I need advice.

So when I experiment re: gender stuff the answers keep changing and getting blurry. It's like someones changing the rules halfway through.

Any tips? Any reassurance that I wont permanently be playing catch up to the whims of some faceless gender god*?

Yes. They taught you that there are rules. There aren’t.

Some people even call them “The Laws of Nature!” Ha! Can you imagine?

All people (but especially Trans people) get traumatized from being raised to believe gender is a static concept with scripts, codes, formulas! In the United States we claim to “love” freedom, yet there are scores of people who can’t (and won’t!) bring themselves to wear a dress because they don’t want someone else to think they’re gay.  ...Is that freedom? Is that love???

Please don’t allow trauma to dictate what you can and can’t do with your gender. You can do ANYTHING YOU WANT.

Have the time of your life my love! Enjoy! Savor that feeling of not knowing oooooooOoOOooohhhh! To quote my Aunt Val:

Take chances! Make mistakes! Get messy!

[EDIT: Rambling, off tone] Final thoughts: Measuring intelligence (something you can’t accurately measure) and using words to lessen others (including yourself) is Ableist. Please stop. Also it’s mean! Do yourself a favor and remove all mean words from your vocabulary. This is a conscious political choice with the added bonus of it feeling nice. We all must move toward a more loving/compassionate future. Practice on yourself! [EDIT: All this to say, I would never refer to you as “dumb” just saying.] And speaking as a Witch? It can be a lot of fun playing with the whims of a faceless gender god. Make a chart. Roll the stones. See what happens!

Hey so I am currently writing a paper about the relationship between playing sports in high school and traditional gender scripts, and it's a pretty short survey and most of the questions are optional so you don't have to answer all of them if you don't want to, but it would be great if you did fill it out! The survey is completely voluntary and will not record your name, email, or other contact information, and the information gathered will only be used for my paper. It's geared towards people who played sports while they were in high school, but that includes non-school teams, and non-team sports and other stuff- yoga counts!
