hey, jsyk, race-specific genders are actual historical identities. there's a lot of ethnic communities that have had nb gender descriptors over the centuries. nobody makes up new race-specific genders, they all already exist and were created by people of those fucking races.

Hey! A lot of these “race-specific genders” that you may be referencing are quite often actually used as homophobic/transphobic terms for gay men and women, trans men and women, and additionally GNC people. The “race-specific genders” on Tumblr, such as “boi”, “qirl”, or “genderhu”. Do you think that gender identities “similar to [boy and girl] but separate from the western way of viewing genders” has been around over centuries, or made up by someone on Tumblr? What about a gender with a “musical feel that feels like a ribbon floating down from the sky”? Do you think that sounds like someone “created” centuries ago? Or do you think that it’s a term created by 2016 Tumblr?

Genderhu

Genderhu: Kind of like a musical feel to it, a flow like a ribbon floating down in the sky. Peaceful calm flows and vibes as a gender. This term is exclusive to Chinese people.

Color meanings: 胡 (hu) is one of the characters used for the name of an instrument, 二胡 (erhu). It is basically a type of guitar, but with just two strings. Since this gender is supposed to be described as music, this is mostly likely where the term came from. The flag here reflects that, being two long dark bars representing the two strings. The background is red since that is a common color in china for luck and happiness, and the character 胡 (hu) being in yellow to represent freedom, in this case freedom from the gender binary!

Various gender terms with no known flags (part 16)

Genderfake: Feeling that your gender is part of your hallucinations or delusions. For people who experience delusions or hallucinations as part of their mental illness or neurodivergence only.

Genderfractal, Genderswirl, or Genderspiral: A gender that seems to spiral downward into more genders when you try to figure it out.

Genderfree or Gender-free: A gender identity which is generally ambiguous, but definitely queer in nature. The owner will tend to pursue expressions, presentations and such without concern for gender associations associated with them. Can also embrace days presenting as very femme or very masc, etc. A blurry, cloudy, whimsical, free sense of gender. Can/often co-existing with other gender identity labels; Dysphoria can, but does not have to, motivate the sense of gender and/or gender expression of this person on any given day. Similar to gender fluid, but does not necessarily have as much fluidity. More of just the exploration of different aspects of the same identity (although this is flexible, as gender tends to be for genderfree folks).

Gendergoliath: Gender is almost larger than life, like it’s spilling out of your body. It takes up a lot of space and is just awe inspiring.

Genderhollow or Genderempty: A gender that is present, but is empty or hollow.

I'd think the anon might be talking about third-genders like Two Spirit or tritiya-prakriti. Not the qirl or whatever bullshit

Well, tritiya-prakriti is a term used for trans people, gay people, and intersex people, and a lot of cultural genders/identities were either actually adopted recently (in the past 30 or so years, like two-spirit) or are homophobic/transphobic terms. I addressed this in the other ask, but the qirl/boi/genderhu stuff was based off of “nobody makes up new race-specific genders, they all already exist and were created by people of those fucking races.”

ohh! okay, i had made the flag in ms paint, so i didnt make use of gridlines. okay, you can go ahead and adjust the black bars so they fit that grid better! seems like they would still look thin like that anyways, there's only a small space of red between them and the closest grid lines to the right of them. and if you need to adjust the hu character so that it's still centered, feel free to do that too!

My only concern here is that, in the font I used (Noto sans), the 月part is slightly less wide than in the image you sent, I hope that’s ok.

concerning genderhu flag, the new flag looks fine! the font is fine as well. writing chinese characters can still have variations in shapes, much like english characters comparing different people's handwriting. as long as they're the same recognizable shape, it's fine if the width is different. thank you for the adjustments!

Yeah, I know the difference is not relevant to the meaning, but changing fonts may convey differences in feeling - which is why the fonts used on logos are different, but not considered irrelevant, for instance. But it’s good to know people can use the fonts they want!
