I am sitting on exgayministries.com and want to turn it into a queer resource site
This year for Pride Month, I am putting together a website filled with resources and helpful information under a domain name that could be used to do harm to us. The problem is that there is a lot of stuff to look through and I only have so much time in a day, which is why I am asking for some help to crowdsource this information from anyone willing to participate during this early phase!
I am looking for national/international/large-scale resources* to include as well as books, movies, music, journal articles/news publications, anything that would be helpful for creating a solid mass of information and uplifting material about queer folks. Please submit a post to me here or email [email protected] (email is preferred!) and I will review the submissions. I would like to have an early version of the site online by the end of the month.
Please do not send the following:
Local resource center information*
Personal contact information for anyone at all
Information locked behind a paywall
Please do send the following:
Art, music, TV, film, and written works that prominently and positively feature queer characters and themes
Recommendations for services that provide assistance to queer folks
Credible resources that help to dismiss and debunk harmful pseudoscientific lies about queer folks
Blog posts, videos, and other online works that provide thought-provoking ideas about queer folks as individuals and the community as a group
The goal of this site is to create a landing page for anyone in a dark place that needs a little bit of help. I vividly remember being a scared gay teenager and trying to find something online that would help "fix" me, and I know a lot of other queer folks who have had that same experience.
Additionally, if you or someone you know is domain parking on a potentially queer-antagonistic site, please get in contact with me! I would love to take that site off of your hands and redirect it to the resource center once it's online!
Let's build a lighthouse and help these people find their way home.
*Creating a list of small-scale groups is a good way to get those groups doxxed/harassed out of existence. I would rather not unintentionally create a hit list
If you find this project interesting but don't have something to submit, please reblog to help gain visibility
