She stopped and press her hands together “I don’t think of h-him that way…Instead I-I see a person who’s still sweet and kind…He j-just need someone to rescue h-him from the darkness…”

With the festivities in full swing, Tess found herself sidling a wall to keep clear of the crowds. Darting through the first door she came to, she nearly ran headlong into one of the visiting dignitaries (if the decorations on his jacket were anything to go by).

“Oh!” She chuckled. “It’s you! Sorry—You can’t even lift your arms in there without knocking into someone’s drink.”

A flash of green and red over his head drew her attention, and she smothered a nervous laugh under her hand. “Ah, we’re under the… ah… Did you have mistletoe, where you came from? There’s a… uhm… a tradition that goes along with it…”
