But why do they—and many of us—allow this to happen? Why do humans assume the very characteristics and behaviors that hurt them when they were at their most vulnerable? It seems illogical at first glance, but our psyches have their reasons: we want to absolve our parents, and other attachment figures, of the choices they made that hurt us; we want to normalize and minimize the pain we experienced in order to absolve them; most earnestly, we want to feel close to them, we want to feel loved by them, we want to feel worthy of them, we want to be accepted and positively regarded. So, we become what we despised and resented, and we tell ourselves this is what life is, this is what I deserve, this is what people do, this is the best I can be? Hi! I love your aus so much! I was wondering though, is there or could you make a family tree for the mystery dads/ stanley mcgucket type aus? I get so confused sometimes (esp with all the new characters!) and would love to have something to reference.
okay! I’ll do for the two big ones, Mystery dads and Mystery moms, and than just explain the others, because they are simpler.
In the main Mystery dads verse. Stan was in a relationship with Carla and had Molly, and Fiddleford was in a relationship with an ex before he transitioned and had Tate. Tate had two children with a friend of Molly’s. Shermie is still Dipper and Mabel’s grandparent, but I don’t include his line since we neither know his wife nor his kids names. Fiddlford’s family is not included in this tree. But at this point I’ve pretty much just adopted @thelastspeecher‘s characters as them.
(two dashed lines indicate a broken relationship. a triangle with a line through it indicates identical twins.)
The Mystery Moms au is much more complicated. Stana gets pregnant by her ex-boyfriend and has Molly. Later, after she comes to gumption she eventually ends up with their youngest daughter Angie. They both decide to have four children together. With Angie carrying them. Angie has Danica, Daisy, and Emmet, using Stana’s twin Ford as a sperm donor. After Ford falls through the Portal Stana has their last child Emily, using Angie’s fraternal twin Lute as the donor.
Shermie, Violyn, Basstion, and Harper all have children and relationships. But do to complexity and space I did not include them here.
(a dotted line indicates a temporary relationship, two dashed indicates a broken relationship. a dashed line with a circle indicates a sperm donor, and a triangle indicates fraternal twins.)
Banjomin Stanley Mcgucket au: Stanley is de-aged and adopted by the mcguckets. I did not know how to denote magic causing a birthdate change and adoption.
Teen Dad Stanley Mcgucket AU: Same as Mystery Dads, but Stan is a teen dad.
Late arrival au- Same as Mystery Dads.
Big sis Au- Stan has Molly with Carla Mccorkle. Angie and Stan have Emily, but no other children.
There is also an abandoned au where Molly and Tate are the twin children of Fiddleford and Stanley, called the “Mystery Dads twins au”. No other aus I’ve played with include children that were not in canon.

Fuck genograms. What on earth do you do when your parents/grandparents are in the middle and you want to pull the lines down so you can easily tell who are cousins and whatnot?
Because otherwise the lines just cross over each other?
Marion, meaning “bitterness”
One of the parts I so enjoy about genealogy is finding out the "hidden" details of family life. That can be pleasant or unpleasant, but always intriguing. I guess you could say finding out these things about immediate family could be pretty dangerous, like it or not, the perception we have of the people we love is rather fragile. But, lucky for me, my most interesting find (thus far) has been about my great-grandmother's aunt, Marion.

Good evening! Welcome to my new and updated blog for Genogramcrackers, a project that started as a hobby that I hope to expand (into a blog, obviously, and maybe helping others research their family history and create themselves a genogram as well!)
The next couple posts will be what I have moved over from my previous page. Hope you enjoy :)
