yunho is highly insecure and insincere, and im tired of pretending he's not

sorry not sorry this is a hot take, it can be perceived as hate but i genuinely dislike yunho and couldn't care less about his fans.

firstly, he's always rubbed me the wrong with his persona, it always felt too fake and artificially constructed to me.

Secondly, I do recognise he's a talented vocalist and dancer, but beyond his technical skills I dont think he's a great 'artist' bc he lacks the creativity and passion to make him stand out from other generic cookie-cutter male idols

He's kinda like the kdrama second-lead to me, basic but boringly attractive which makes sense on paper — tall and puppy face, but no real personality beyond it.

His jokes and gags often feel so forced, like the 1d2n spiderman thing was so boring (he's got nothing in common with the character either both him and hotteoks need to let it go)

On top of that, his friendship with Mingi is like one of his main personality traits, which comes as forced once again, with fans reading wayy too deep in normal interactions and bringing up stuff from ages ago — "they had lunch in highschool together" like i just dont think they're that close anymore?

Onto his creative side — or lack thereof, we all saw how uninspired the slide to me mv was, but I knew it from the moment I heard the song — it was a basic, generic, safe choice male idol solo, countless artists have done these "sleek sexy" concepts where all they do is a wear a suit and call it day.

And whil yunho is technically a good dancer, I feel he lacks real authentic aura and stage presence because his expressions are boring and he doesn't fully commit to 'performing' a different character on stage the way seonghwa, yeosang, san, and even mingi and hongjoong do.

Furthermore, his interactions with fans are so cringe and his fanservice is honestly weird bc why are you feeding into this weird wattpad fantasy by acting all jealous and possessive, trying to create this "sexy psycho" character which is clearly not working.

Speaking of, he needs to give up his pipe-dream of wanting to become a real actor because he has neither the looks nor talent for it. His short film was painful to watch with how hard he was attempting to play this 'bad boy' with a rough personality.

Of course all his basic thirsty fans eat it up, but yall are blinded by delulu im so sorry one day the rose-tinted glasses will come off TRUST

Finally, the latest and biggest ick I got from yunho is when he literally plagiarised yeosang's hairstyle for the golden hour: part 4 concept photos. Anyone can look at the two concepts side by side and see that he literally copied the entire ponytail and look as a whole. Which again — was yeosang's original idea which he'd been planning for a while.

anyways, yeosang deserves better than this duplicitious roommate, and yunho needs to give up his evil in ways before his greed and jealousy destroys the group — dont say i didnt warn yall, when the time comes you'll see.

Dude he's just an Idol from a middling company that can't even source Lightiny on time in sufficient quantities at the Seoul concerts. Um, as for myself and my friends on here - uhhhhh I don't know how to explain this but sometimes being really stupid together with compatible people is really fun. Does that - does that help at all in your understanding us? We know we're being cringe. We're intentionally putting the most grotesque and exaggerated clown make up on ourselves and going Look!! LOOK! and crying laughing while we do it, because it's fun. I feel entitled to do this on tumblr because there's no algorithm, I never self-reblog to boost engagement on any post (not that there's anything wrong with that - I love it when gifmakers do it so I can see their work), and the block button functions really well here.

And finally - there's a very powerful undercurrent of an enemies-to-lovers arc going on in your critique. Like - why the hell did you watch the movie, for example? I live in S. Korea and they played it in many theaters and I never bothered. You're not just irritated by the (apparently?) excessively kind praise his fans lavished on him (I didn't see any because I don't care about this movie and so didn't go looking), you're irritated because you didn't think he was very good at it. But you cared that he wasn't good at it. You at least halfway hoped he would be, you see, is the underside of that coin. Also - he got the movie made. I encourage you to watch any number of like, twenty or so films about making movies, and how impossible they are to actually get to completion.

Similarly, I could not tell you- at all - what the heck anybody's hairstyle was for that promo photoset for GH4 where Yunho had the man-bun and the vest, because I was like, Oh they look nice and then went zomg YUNHO because I know that I'm a hotteok. (unlike you) But I get inundated with so much audiovisual information from this band and my daily life that I promptly forgot everyone else's look because they're not my bias. And yet you -you remember Yunho's hair and whom he might be referencing.

Each episode is only going to be 48 minutes long. Trying to get all of TVL plus other books into 7 episodes. Either this season is going to be very rushed and shallow or they're cutting a lot from TVL. I'm disappointed I can't lie. Especially because Iwtv S2 was so slow and boring in places. They need to sort their pacing if they want to keep getting renewed.

I’m sorry you’re feeling disappointed, anon, and I’m not sure where you’re getting your intel from, but I doubt every episode will be the exact same length? I might eat my words, but that just. Doesn’t really happen these days?

Regardless though, Rolin’s already on the record that the book’s being split over two seasons, and I don’t think any of us are in a position to assess the pacing of the new season when none of us have seen it. I loved the pacing of s2 though, and never personally found it slow or boring, but I’d be curious to hear what storylines you felt to be that way if you want to elaborate.
