Wedding vibes!
So right now what I'm thinking is that Bates has moved on bc he just wants the bad/in-between/unresolved feelings to go away and it's easier to pretend everything's okay if he's with Milly (who does seem pretty great). This supports what I've been thinking recently, which is that I think Bates is going to end up single at the end. Bates' dramatic need is pretty clear: he needs to either figure out where he's going in life or become okay with himself and uncertainty. Bc this is an emerging adulthood story, the second one seems like a more satisfying ending. A lot of us are in that place right now, and learning to be okay with where he's at feels more relatable and realistic than figuring out where he's going. Being single brings up a lot of Bates' anxieties about being at an unsettled point, which is why he rebounded so quickly. But being in a relationship isn't going to fix the problem. Getting back together with Gleeson won't solve anything neither. Bates' dramatic need will be filled when he can accept himself and that's not going to happen until he's alone with himself for a while. The thought of g2 not being endgame might sound gloomy but I'm actually super excited if I'm right and this is where it's going! In so many stories, being in a relationship solves everything and I'd actually love a show that says "actually, sometimes being single is what you need and that's okay." I was in that place for a long time last year where the only way I was going to get where I needed to go was to be single and get comfy with myself again, and that'd be an awesome arc to see played out onscreen
George squared pride doodle bc pride month is almost over and I miss them ❤️🌈
