Your fandom has YEARS built on racism, just from Damian Wayne alone. Your fandom has YEARS built on misogyny, just from Stephanie Brown alone. Years built in ableism, with Cassandra, racism AGAIN with Duke Thomas; Ra’s Al Ghul; Talia Al Ghul; even fucking Lucius Fox. It is NOT too much to ask that people self reflect and wonder why they ignore these characters so much; why they treat them like they’re only there to uphold certain characters to higher standards. To play the bad guy to your white boy.
You say to take it up with DC. You think people haven’t tried? That nobody has complained about how the only way Duke Thomas or any other black character has any kind of appearance in comics is when the calendar enters February? Or the fact that Damian’s characterization reverts back to the stereotype of an evil brown boy whose only purpose is to bring nightmares to his father? You think people haven’t tried?
I’m so sick of this response every time somebody tries to be firm and say that “include these people in your portrayals of a family because they exist” because it really doesn’t take much to research. Fandom REVOLVES around the canon work - to erase characters for your convenience is shitty at best, and ignorant at worst.
