So. I raise you a headcannon not about the best Eilander (Gerard) but Elizabeth. Some people say that she had an accident or something to make her blind but idk if I said this but I think it’s cataracts (I think that’s how you spell it)
It wasn’t too bad and in her childhood but when she became a teen and her immune system just never really got better because they lived on that damn island she slowlt just became blinded and blunder until she was fully blind. But I feel like Nicholas would have used that as if the way like “ah..your body wasn’t strong enough to fight it? It’s because-(insert manipulation here)” y’know???
One more thing!!(/pos) I headcannon that the eilanders are the guest in hotel but that was the first time in YEARS they’ve all been together again. Like after paradise they all went their separate ways. Mostly I hc this because it would be kind of funny how horribly awkward it would be. You don’t see your family in forever. Then you get invited back to the osland you used to live at. And you just have to stand there waiting for the boat. I get second hand embarrassment imagining the tension but yeah
Oh sorry, I didn't know that was a side acc. I just realized that someone else had an Eilander brother HC and I lost my f*ck!ng mind. Bc I always had HC abt them but never shared because I thought nobody liked Gerard. Lol. I liked the idea of Nicholas using the cataracts to call her weak, and the fact her eyes are grey also help confirm that a bit. I think it's semi-cannon that the Eilanders are the guests, idk if they knew though, bc imagine if you are a anthropomorphic person, and your uncle/brother/son is an anthropomorphic boar (as example), would you really eat boar ribs even if you didn't know it was him you're eating? It would just feel wrong, y'know? I don't have any Elizabeth blindness HC, but she did say "Fear didn't make me blind" that line makes me think there is a story behind it.
I never had the HC of them going their own separate ways, in my HC, Margaret, Gerard, Lizzie and David escape the island, and bc they are so bonded by trauma, they stuck together (Margaret sucked up to Nicholas, she only came with because she begged Gerard to let her come with them and he said yes.) but Nicholas, Jakob and Caroline all went separately. (Jakob and Caroline, after turning to Mr. Owl, still in my au stuck together. Nicholas was attacked when Gerard and Margaret were trying to escape, they cut off his hand so he was distracted, he survived but never left Paradise)
And yes. Gerard is the best Eilander. He is so unbelievably underrated it's not even funny anymore, people hate him but... He's amazing, he eats stuff he isn't supposed to? How in any way is that weird, I love that goofy fat man sm! And I used to HC that he has Pica, but now, I just think he's weird and fat. Just my type 💕 and also- in my HC he is the main male caretaker of David and Elizabeth, so he is also sweet.
Anyway, Elizabeth is sweet, David is a goofball, Margaret is scary, Gerard is hot and the best Eilander.
Ps. I can practically hear Nicholas shout "You're not strong enough! That's why your vision went out. Maybe if you wouldn't have questioned me, the Lake wouldn't have punished you! But hey, I'm just a terrible father, so why do you care anyway." Crocodile tears lol.
Im currently writing an Eilander fanfic on AO3, it has a lot of themes of Nicholas's abuse. But I've always been a huge Gerard fan and wanted him and his family to have angst.
