I really loved writing this one once I finally figured out what to do with that damn prompt! It gave me so much trouble that this is the third draft! I may post the bloopers soon for that. But once I had it figured out, I fell in love with the premise.

I just love Fae Tommy. I love making Dream objectively less powerful than Tommy and therefore kind of at his mercy. I adore making Tommy a being that is naturally both alluring and unsettling to Dream.

And making Tommy curse and insult in german. No greater joy. I made his insults and curses so incredibly german that if I ever attempt to translate it, I will be clawing my hair out with how untranslatable it will be. Fun stuff!

Ich habe hier eine Fic für meine deutschsprachigen Sherlockians. Suburbia von @kirincalls. Die Story ist wirklich der Wahnsinn, wunderbar geschrieben! Teenlock au: John geht auf eine Schule in Erith, einem kleinen Ort mit wenig Aufstiegsmöglichkeiten. Sherlock kommt auf eben diese Schule, wechselt von einer Privatschule in London, da er von dieser Schule rausgeworfen wurde... Eine wirklich bezaubernde Geschichte, in der Sherlock und John nicht nur Unterstützung erfahren, die so viel Gefühl und leid rüber bringt und doch so voll liebe steckt! Wer sie noch nicht kennt: unbedingt lesen! Heutiges Thema: Verleugnung/Verweigerung (Denial)

I’m having a lot of fun for the Bowspam Week. I already posted this yesterday, on time, but forgot to post it here too. Shame on me. Forgive me? (hosted by @bowspam)

I really like this one, if I’m being honest. It lays down a premise I would love to play with properly in the future, which is protégé Tommy who is completely in the know regarding Dream’s plans, and in love on top of that. Though I am so very tempted to use that as a sort of backstory to something else entirely, maybe Tommy convincing (or forcing) Dream to get away from the server and live together, cottagecore style. 

Also, very good news, I was successful in my endeavours! I cast out my net (posted a german fic) and caught my first fish (received a comment from a german person)! Very very happy about that! So it seems this is working! I will keep casting my nets and hope I will catch more fish!

Heutiges Thema: Triumph (Victory)

The last entry for the Bowspam week! It’s coming full circle because this is technically the spiritual prequel to my first entry for this event, “Fremd Und Doch Vertraut”!

Spiritual prequel because I technically didn’t write either with the intent of being connected, but the more I thought about it, I realised that, yeah no actually this could be the same world and scenario and it would work! If you mentally tweak some details, like the chains Tommy had put on Dream in this one that are absent from the other fic. You could make the assumption that Tommy may be the cause of Dream’s amnesia, maybe via potion or spell, and removed the chains before Dream woke up so he wouldn’t be afraid. (This is my internal explanation for what could have happened.)

In any case, Tommy wins. :)

Heutiges Thema: Lachen (Laughter)

Post Nukes Ending, straight into season 2. Amongst my favourite settings. It gives me a clean slate to work with, or mostly clean. I used this metaphor in my other dsmp season 2 fic, “We’re The Same (Gods, I Hope Not)”, that, while the slate is cleaned, you can still feel the grime/residue of what was written on it before. Of course, there will always be things leftover from the past, no matter how much you try to clean it all away.

In this one, only Dream remembers the past, and Tommy has no memories of the previous world or what happened between them. Dream has his own internal struggles with that, but he’s mostly enjoying it and kind of using it. Honestly, he’s just making the most of it, and if this version of Tommy can fall in love with him, who is he to deny himself that? Tommy doesn’t remember anyway, so where’s the harm in indulging his own fantasies?

I really enjoyed writing their dialogue in this. I think you can really tell I’ve been listening to The Kangaroo Chronicles by Marc-Uwe Kling recently, it’s been bleeding into my dialogues. Same thing happened in my other fic, “Glück Im Unglück”, which I forgot to mention in my tumblr post about it. Maybe I should tag the Kangaroo Chronicles in that fic as inspiration or something. Tommy’s monologue about rules and that they’re made up so he can make up his own rules, is basically ripped straight out of the Kangaroo Chronicles, if a bit different because I did adjust it to fit in the context of the fic. And it was written from memory. No straight up plagiarism here, folks! Only loving homage!

(The Kangaroo Chronicles are really good, by the way. Fully recommend. Really funny.)

Heutiges Thema: Depression

I think this was the first one I wrote for this event. If all else fails me, Logstedshire and Exile will catch me, I think. Tommy’s feelings about Exile, himself and about Dream during exile are always exquisite to expllore and make sense of.

There is one moment in here inspired by a moment, or rather a certain use of punctuation, in german literature. I borrowed it to make it more poignant and I hope it comes across right? (If you’re wondering, I borrowed the Gedankenstrich in the way it was used in The Marquise of O, by Heinrich von Kleist. Never would I have thought I’d use what I learned in german class for a fanfic. How strange.)

It’s lowkey my favourite moment, nerd that I am.
