The 4th of July Mid-Year Review
The 4th of July is nearly here. A day in which we celebrate our forefathers’ victory over oppression and tyranny, a day in which we celebrate our nation’s heritage, laws, history, society, and people… And in my opinion, an excellent day to reflect on all those things we take for granted in our own personal lives…our day job, the things we learned, our loved ones and our hobbies.
In addition to eating and drinking, I try to use the 4th of July (or the 5th of July) as a day in which I review what I done since the beginning of this year; a sort of a midyear checkup to see if I’m one with the ecosystem which is my productivity system.
During my 4th of July mid-year review, I check on higher level goals, put back on track objectives that have fallen behind, and take a close look at what has worked and not worked for me, and of course, take a forward look into this next 6 month of the year. Here’s how I do it…

Productivity App Hacks Ctrl + Shift + E and more
Continuing in the spirit of last week’s post, here’s another hack for speed! Remember, the quicker you get “stuff” into IQTELL, the faster you’ll get “stuff done”!
This hack is for Chrome users because you’ll need to install the Free IQTELL Chrome Extension.
Now, anytime you’d like to quickly get an action into IQTELL – just click “Ctrl + Shift +E”. You’ll able to type in your action (set the Context, if you’d like), and click Enter. You don’t have to be logged into IQTELL; heck, you don’t even need to be connected to the internet.

GTD App Hacks – Android Widgets
IQTELL Android Widgets
As we practice GTD®, we all need a quick way to clear our mind. One of the main obstacles to achieving a stress-free life style is the many “things” that are floating around in our mind. We constantly think about them, make a decision, and then repeat the process over and over again. If we don’t get them out of our mind and into our GTD app, we’ll lose sleep, worry, and over-stress.
IQTELL Android Widgets to the rescue…
Using the “Button Widget”, you can quickly create new items with just a tap from the home-screen. If you are a strict GTD’er you may only need the Inbox. However, you have the power to add Buttons for every IQTELL folder, e.g., Inbox, Actions, Projects, Someday Items, etc.
Using the “List Widget”, you can add any of your lists to your home screen. Quickly open a list, open/complete items, and more!

Task Management Redundancy and How to Solve It
How many task management apps do you have in your workflow? Be honest about it! Two you say? You sure it’s not three? What about that calendar app that is poking from your iPhone? Ah, that’s better. What if I told you…
Most of productivity enthusiasts out there are passionate about their productivity, and they turned productivity into a game. But instead of being, we are playing productive. Hence productivity enthusiasts are not the best role models for your personal productivity.
That is why we stick to our countless applications that are supposed to make us more productive, but in return we spend more time tweaking them and adjusting them, than doing the actual work. The purpose of our task managers is to give us a holistic view of the global picture on what needs to be done. Clarity and a peace of mind, that we won’t forget what’s truly important.
