feminism vs misandry
I hate the whole “feminists hate men” thing that is going on for so many years now so here is something to read for you:
“I only meet feminists who hate men”.
Apparently you have never met feminists then.
“Why don’t they march and protest for equal prison sentences?”
Because women are killed, mutilated, objectified, oppressed and raped. Feminism has priorities and they start with protection, equal chances and support.
“They want women out of prisons.”
This is a whole other movement because it is such a big topic and no, feminists don’t want women out of prisons. They want to reform prisons and receive more lenient sentences for everyone. But like I said, this is another movement and not a big part of feminism anymore.
“Women are not oppressed, their sentences are not as harsh.”
Most judges are male. Many men don’t get harsh sentences either when they commit crimes towards women. Women get lenient sentences because they are not considered an independant person (mostly). It is the judges that excuse them because they are being so weak, emotional, pretty and easily manipulated. NO feminist is okay with that.
“The pay gap is because women choose to be dependant/ less driven.”
There have been centuries of sexism, methodical oppression and humiliation. It is engraved in women’s minds. There is even a theory that girls evolved to mature faster because society pressured them at an early age. Many advertisements targeted to women tell them “if you do this, men will like you more”. Our society evolves around that.
I am all for equal prison sentences but do NOT say that movement is a joke only because our main focus is not punishment but rather support. While we want to raise up women’s rights to the level of men’s rights, it is also the other way around. But feminism is not that one movement that suddenly has to fix everything that is wrong in society and it says a lot about you, when you want a movement (focussed on women) to fix men’s issues first before you acknowledge it. And no matter how often you say that women and men are biologically not equal: they are different but still equal.
