You and Lucio had just gotten seperated, your ditermined to find him again just like you promised. Using the magic of the teacher you and Lucio had you tracked him to the docks, while you stared out at the dark water to the distant ashen island you felt the feather pull. You took a small boat and made your way to the small island— the island that was said to be haunted because it used to be a dumping and burning site for plague victims. Oddly enough this place seemed familiar in a bad way, in the type of way that make you want to get as far as you possiably could from this place but you had to find Lucio so you carried on through the charred island.
In the back of your mind you wondered if you had been here before, well, obviously you had been— but what happened that was so traumatic. Is this place why you cant remember anything? Was whatever happened her so traumatic that your mind forcefully blocked it out in order to forget about it?
Eventually you arrived at a what used to be a old fishing shack, it’d been long since forgotten at this point. Thanks were crumbling and the ceiling, or what was left of it, was bowing under its old wheight. You waltzed in while trying to avoid the less sturdy wooden floorboards. “Lucio? Are you here?” You called out from where you stood, the sound of movement from the corner of the room to you r attention. “Lucio...? Is that you?” You asked wearily as you cautiously walked to the corner that had boxes and crated stacked atop each other— granted they were old and rotting from not being protected from the elements all these years. It wasn’t until you leaned over the boxes that you found the culprit of the noice, no, it wasn’t Lucio but instead a small mouse stuck in a tin can it had tipped over.
“Poor thing, Here let me help you out of there.” You hummed softly as you picked the can up and tipped the mouse into your palm, you discarded the can and gently stroked the field mouse that seemed thankful for its rescue. You sighed softly as you looked up at the open spot in the roof— there was several spotted through the shack that let in rays of light but this one you stood under was much bigger then the others. “You wouldn’t happen to have seen a very fashionable man with a golden arm and eyeliner come through here, would you?” You asked while turning your attention to the mouse once again.
After a moment of silence it seemed all hell broke loose.
A hawk that had apparently been stalking the mouse until it seemed shelter in a can swooped through the big opening in the roof to grab the mouse, Effectively making you jump back onto a very unsturdy part of flooring that collapsed under your wheight. The hawk got its meal and you fell into the basement of the fishing shack.
Your vison was dulled for a moment, your fall had kicked up dust that hadn’t been disturbed in what looked like a century. You waved a hand in front of your face and with a cough you began seeing more clearly. “MC!?” A very familiar— very scared, voice called for you in dim lighting. “Lucio! Lucio, keep talking!” You called back, you summoned a small ball of light into your hand and began walking deeper into the basement. Eventually arriving at your location.
Lucio sat in the corner of the dark room, his hands covering his face as if flinching from some unseen force. “Lucio! How’d you get down here??” You questioned as you walked closer, “Stay away!” The blonde snapped at you, his eyes nailed shut.
You stood before him in the dark room with only the light in your palm casting a soft glow. ‘What could have him so afraid’ you pondered until you noticed the shadows, no, the figures that lurked there. The figured that had pained expression and barely looked human— but you knew, somehow you knew that these where people once.
“It’s his fault!”
“I want to go home!”
“He killed us!”
All their pained groans ran together as your dim light grew to illuminate the rest of the room, all you could see was a sea of dark ghastly figures ranging in size— age, ranging in age. You almost had to cover your ears since their cries got so loud until. Silence.
They had all fallen quiet, all but one. Suddenly you were face to face with— You? Your own pale face staring back at you with a air of fear and anger around you both. “It burns!” Your own voice cried out from the figure, but not to you. It was looking at Lucio. “You killed me!” The ghost screamed, “I’m sorry!” Lucio replied louder and quicker. “I didn’t mean to, If i could I’d take it all back...” He frowned, you could see in his eyes that his heart was breaking— did he not know you’d died? “Would you!?” Your spirit screamed, “Yes!” He yelled back. “Your my everything! If it’d bring you back I’d do anything, i want to fix it!” Lucio exclaimed. Your spirit fell quiet, taking a slow step towards Lucio. He didn’t flinch away. “Promise...?” You asked so quietly it was like a small gust of wind. “Pinky.” Lucio sighed.
As quickly as it started it ended, the ghosts all gone. For a moment you and Lucio shared a glance before the ever decreasing light faded out.
———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
When had you fallen asleep? You didn’t know, all you knew is Lucio was holding you like a lifeline. He was speaking but you couldn’t quiet hear him over the fire that was crawling up your body— it was so painful you wanted to scream. Is this what its like to die? Was this how you died? Burned alive on the larzet, it wasn’t a memory you wanted back but begrudgingly got back along with the rest of them— granted most were foggy and blurred.
“MC? MC please! Please, wake up!! I can;t do this without you please!” Lucio’s voice jarred you awake from your vivid post-traumatic-nightmare. Your eyes fluttered open as you scanned your surroundings. “Hey! Your okay, are you okay? Can you stand? YOu hit your head pretty hard then you fell.” Lucio’s commentary was like a distant echo as you reminded yourself of what happened. “I’m— I was... I died.” You stated with a kneeded brow as you pulled away from Lucio who tried to keep you beside him if only for his own reassurance. His silence told you all you needed.
The room yet again fell under an uncomfortable quietness.
“Please don’t leave me...” Lucio’s voice barely broke through the silence, he didn’t look up from the ground.
“I... I’m not. I said I’d save the world didn’t I?” You stated as you stood up, after a moment of wobbling you became steady.
“And after...?” Lucio questioned, his gaze raising to yours briefly to see your eyes.
“We’ll see...” You mumbled out quietly as you scanned the room for a way out.
