- In the historical small town of Salem, Massachusetts, there is a grizzly story from the days of the witch trials. It goes that two children, daughters of a Milissa Wilcox, were born on Halloween night. As the years passed, both girls grew up to be two of the mist beautiful young women in the area. However, this beauty was merely skin deep for one of them, as deep down one was wicked. It is said that one of them had begun to practice the dark arts of witchcraft and was placing curses on the land and its people. One of her evil deeds was having her own father and mother accused of the evil happenings and both were later hanged. Her evil ways would be put to a stop when was caught one night in her sleep by the villagers. Her twin sister had been the one who discovered her. Like many others, she was hanged and her body was burned. So that her evilness wouldn’t spoil the land had she been simply buried. In present day, her only living descendant was Arlene Wilcox. She had a striking likeness to her ancestors. So much so, you could confuse her for being the missing third twin. Arlene was an old friend of Fred’s in his hometown of Coolsville before he left and joined Mystery Inc. She contacted them as she needed their help. Recently, she had moved back to her hometown of Salem, Massachusetts when the angry spirit of her ancestor, the Ghost Witch, began haunting her and the townsfolk have accused her of being possessed by the witch because of her striking resemblance to said ghost. Some had believed she had returned as she was insulted by the mockery of not only her death, but of all the hangings of the innocent. Others though she sought revenge for only her own hanging and burning. After several of the status quo of Scooby Doo hijinks, Gar Mooney, the groundskeeper of the neighbouring graveyard the gang had met earlier, was the one who performed the seance using one of the lost pages from the Tome Of Doom. He had summoned the angry spirit and had her go after Arlene in the hopes of scaring her off the property and to claim it for himself as there is said to be a highly valuable jewel necklace on the property. It is revealed that Arlene is NOT the descendant of the twins, but that she IS the twin. Being the witch from the old story much to everyone’s surprise. When she and her sister were growing up, she had begun to show signs of her magic capabilities. None of it wicked, not yet anyways. Her parents and sister tried to hide it from the others, but then the witch trials started up and word got out that there was witch activity in their family. Not wanting her daughter to be hung, she took the blame and her husband was also accused of aiding her witchcraft. This put a strain on the two sister’s relationship because of her continued practice of witchcraft despite the many close calls, grief and trouble it has caused. She was caught during one of her rituals and made a run for it. Though she had managed to escape, later that week the people went to the home of her twin sister and the rest is history. After she fled town, she found out about her sister’s death and was absolutely distraught by the news. From then on, she made it her goal to bring her back. Only a few knew of any resurrection spells, but they all came back as the undead. Not what she wanted. However, there was one possible way to bring her sister back to the living world. That knowledge was kept in the Tome of Doom, a book that held the secrets of both the living and the dead. She knew it would take more than a lifetime to find it, so she placed a spell on herself that would slow her aging to a near halt. Only aging a few years every hundred or more so. She changed her name to Arlene and passed herself off as her own descendant. Arlene had gone back to her hometown to continue her search for the book when the ghost hauntings started up. Her dead sister was brought back as a ghost and was not willing to listen to her still living twin, being blinded by anger, rage and resentment. Making it her goal to have the townsfolk turn on her and have her hanged, a fate she suffered for being falsely accused for her sister’s crimes of witchcraft. Arlene had Mystery Inc come and visit her and to deal w/ her sister while she went off on her own investigation to find out who had summoned her sister’s spirit in the first place. The jewel necklace as it turns out is able to give life to the wearer and be among the living once again — as long as it’s worn that is. This was why Arlene came back to the town; to find the necklace. As she had found another of the missing pages herself which contained this information of the whereabouts of the enchanted necklace. Before Arlene can give the necklace to her sister, now that she has made peace w/ her, she declines the offer. Saying that what has been done is done and that these are the consequences of her actions which lead to her untimely death and she must live w/ them. With that, she moves on having finally been able to make peace. Leaving her still living sister in tears. The gang try to comfort her, but she declines. Stating that her sister was right, in that her reasons for bringing her back was more to lessen her own guilt than anything. But now, having made amends w/ her sister, she can move on w/ her own life. Mystery Inc and Arlene say their goodbyes and part ways. Going wherever the road may take them.
