Mizzrym, better known as "Mitzy," was born into a normal Githyanki crèche but it was immediately apparent that something was different about her. Other Gith eggs were hardy, with thick healthy membranes and a vibrant acid green color; her egg came out a sickly green-gray, the membrane visibly thinner and leaving her developing embryo visible throughout her time in the egg. Fearful of the consequences of birthing such an anomaly and presenting it to her crèche, the Gith who laid her egg sold it off to a desperate, hungry street urchin citing that he could, in turn, sell off whatever hatched from it... if it hatched at all.
To his surprise, it did, and out tumbled a skinny, malnourished, pinkish-white little alien with a mouthful of sharp teeth and fingers tipped with claws. She gazed up at him with blood-red eyes as round as a coin, strange slitted pupils expanding and contracting as they adjusted to the light, and he decided right then that he wanted nothing to do with her. She was promptly sold to a traveling circus in town where she would eventually perform acrobatic and aerial shows for thousands, as well as use her inherent Githyanki psiionics to perform "magic" tricks.

this girl has been living in my brain for months now and i think it's time she finally be set free and realized!!! took a bit for me to come up with lore for her but ultimately i knew i wanted her to be a dancer or performer of some sort, and with her pearly-colored skin and unnatural strength and flexibility, she is surely the main attraction of her circus.
Timed myself for some painted sketches for some research i’m doing, each one of these took about an hour. (Actually….a little bit more since I fussed around with them a LOT after they were “done.” I’m working on curbing that habit T_T)
I have a bunch of screenshots I took of these honor mode Tavs I made, so i just used them as reference 😅
Finally threw together some kind of refsheet for Vron'liss (aka the BG3 AU version of my edgelord shapeshifter oc Frownless)
Shall put his story under the cut. TLDR Vron'liss is a changeling posing as a githyanki.
In this AU, Frownless adopted the identity of a Githyanki raider and took on the name Vron'liss (a portmanteau of his name Frownless) to avoid being slaughtered in a githyanki raid. In actuality he is a changeling assassin with shadow magic sorcery, and the shadow magic causes him to not cast a shadow and to be able to meld into the shadows of other people to adopt their identities. For many years, Vron'liss lived as a gith in the astral plane under the tyranny of Vlaakith. Then he is sent to Creche Y'llek to join the raiders on the sword coast. Then several years later, the nautiloid snatched him up during one of his scouting missions, and he is dragged into the events of Baldur's Gate 3.
Vron'liss had been posing as a githyanki for so long that he forgot what his old face looked like. The mannerisms of the githyanki are drilled into him. He is terrified of any real githyanki finding out he is an imposter, he knows gith are ruthless and would surely kill him for lying about his identity. A liar and coward at heart, the fear of his secret being found out keeps him from shifting into other forms even when faced with prejudice against githyanki.
During the events of BG3, Vron'liss is close with Lae'zel out of their common ground as gith - in truth, Vron'liss was terrified of Lae'zel finding out he is an imposter. Lae'zel thinks she can trust him as a fellow githyanki, and to some extent she is right; they have overlapping experiences of being under Vlaakith's rule. He talks like a gith, he walks like a gith, for all intents and purposes he is a gith. When the party goes to Creche Y'llek, Vron'liss is very paranoid for his 'home creche' finding out that not only is he infected by a ghaik parasite, but that he is not even a true gith. Out of cowardice, he allows Lae'zel to go into the zaith'isk first, but regrets the harm it causes her. Having to face the specter of Vlaakith chilled him to his bones, so of course he does what Vlaakith wishes, only to be betrayed even as he and Lae'zel did as she asked. Vron'liss and Lae'zel, marked h'shar'lak, traitors.
After fighting through Creche Y'llek (and taking the gith egg), both Lae'zel and Vron'liss's worldviews are shaken to their core. Lae'zel looked to Vron'liss for comfort, that surely Vlaakith was merely testing their loyalty. Vron'liss shook his head - she was discarding them. He knows what being discarded is like very well, as the reason he ended up finding githyanki in the first place was that his original caregivers exiled and banished him into the astral plane. Allying with Voss was easy, though the fear of being found out an imposter still swirls in the back of his mind.
When the party reached the shadow cursed lands, it made his shadow magic stronger. It also made it harder for Vron'liss to maintain his form as a githyanki. The shadows pulled at him, urging him to shift into the darkness surrounding him. Maintaining his appearance became exhausting, and so he would sleep at the far end of camp away from everyone else, wrapped in his sleeping bag and tent to hide that his face is unraveling.
Lae'zel finds out his secret when she shakes him awake one night, demanding he battle for her love. When she pulls him out of the sleeping bag, she sees his shadow-wreathed face and shifting features, and at first thinks he has been fully corrupted by the shadow curse into some shadow monster. What should have been a battle for love devolved into a battle for his life, just so he can get the chance to explain his situation. His worst fear manifest as she spits vitriol at the imposter wearing his face. It is difficult for her to accept that he is who he says he is, even after he uses his shadow magic to restrain her so she couldn't kill him. She is understandably upset, as is he. A hard pill to swallow, the fact that the de-facto leader of your party has been lying about his identity the whole time.
It's a miracle the whole party doesn't turn on him upon discovering he is a changeling, though with his track record of being a pathological liar, they aren't too surprised. Though the party dynamic stays tense, they manage to work together to free the Nightsong, defeat Ketheric, and rid the land of the shadow curse.
When the party finally makes it to Baldur's Gate and discovers Orin the Red's plot to sew discord amongst them, they devise a way to trick Orin. Orin doesn't know the party already has a changeling imposter amongst them. Lae'zel and Vron'liss make a plan together - Vron'liss uses his magic to change Lae'zel's appearance to look like him. He gives her some of his clothes - including his orange bandana - and has her dress up to impersonate him while he shapeshifts to impersonate her instead. If Orin means to kidnap and impersonate one of their own, they will be ready, and they will know.
Sure enough, Orin strikes in the night, and Vron'liss wakes up to find himself chained down in the temple of Bhaal. Their plan worked. He still wears Lae'zel's face. He smiles and mocks Orin's attempts to hurt his companions, knowing that as soon as she goes to his companions wearing Lae'zel's face, they will know she is the imposter.
They make quick work of Orin as soon as she shows her face (well, Lae'zel's face technically) at their camp. Orin did not pay close enough attention to the two githyanki to know if one had changed their appearance, and realizes all to late that she's face to face with the person she's been trying to impersonate. Orin escapes bloodied but still alive, unintentionally leading the party straight into Bhaal's temple, where they freed Vron'liss so he can join the fray to defeat Orin once and for all. With newfound glee, he reveals his secret and turns into the writhing shadow of his true form to vanquish her.
With a newfound understanding of each other, Vron'liss and Lae'zel mend their relationship, go to defeat Gortash and the netherbrain, and ultimately join Orpheus's honor guard and raise the gith egg (named Xan, gith for Freedom) together. Finally, Vron'liss feels like he doesn't have to hide who he is, he can be a githyanki and a changeling wreathed in shadows, as long as Lae'zel is by his side.
