“when i rose to start the day, misfortune came knocking at my door. i’m sure it must think that it owns the damn place. we’re both uninvited and unwanted, so it follows me out onto the stormy, raging streets to wander the world as the wind’s woeful wail. my shoes are soaked through to the stitch by the downpour, the lighter won’t flicker on, everything i read on the news makes me want to lunge at a bastard’s throat. my grave disappointment doesn’t deter the disastrous turn of events in the slightest. gritting my teeth, i elbow and fist through the blind crowd. what a sad day to have places to be, what an appalling time to be alive. my sincerest condolences to everyone rushing past my side in the rain.”
