Dear White Christian Lawmaker,

I just don't understand how you're getting away with it. Has the nation gone so numb at this point that no one is willing to stop you? Have people forgotten that as state leaders you are not endowed with any sort of divine status? Put simply, you aren't actually allowed to legislate based on your personal religious beliefs, signing bills into law based on nothing but scripture. Not any more.

Dear @tumblr Warning me on every posts that it is "Adult content" and only providing the option to hide the post instead of removing that useless warning… Fucking go fuck yourself you fucking blog platform of fuckers. #Repost at @kyivindependent_official with @use.repost_ . . . President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a personal invitation to Russian President Vladimir Putin in an open letter published June 4, offering to meet face-to-face to put an end to five years of full-scale war.

“Almost half of your 26 years of power in Russia you have spent in the war against Ukraine,” Zelensky wrote.

The letter was published a day after Ukraine launched a large-scale attack on St. Petersburg, striking a major oil terminal and military targets on the same morning Putin welcomed [certain visitors from other countries] to the city for his flagship economic forum.

An OPEN LETTER to … A Younger You from an Older Us …

Dear Dreamers: It was a simple question we recently asked ourselves – “What bit of wisdom would we share with our younger selves?” Years – decades, even – removed from our different eras of existence, we’ve grown older, wiser, and far more realistic – pessimistic, even – so, not only did our answers conjure the best memories from those younger days when we were your age, but the advice offered below is solid no matter what direction your life takes once your days became full of the consequence of your decisions. So, may we suggest … Don’t sweat the small stuff and take the long way home. Know your worth, recognize you grow more from the struggle than from the spotlight. And yeah, that’s right, just do it. Never think “IT” can’t happen, always be vigilant, realize apparent disappointment can evolve into good fortune, take nothing for granted, ever, and never assume someone will be with you forever. We compose and publish our OPEN LETTERs for each Saturday morning.

Often, they are addressed to local residents because they’ve made efforts to improve our quality of life, but also because we’re suggesting something or expressing the need for change.  We also communicate with elected officials and local governments – on all levels – and to suggest clarity or common sense or direction.  

So, we’ve left links below to some of your – and our – favorites that were published in 2025, including notes directed to the new and old owners of the business locates at 808 National Road in Wheeling, to one of the best law enforcement officers in the region, to a legendary business owner who set sail into retirement, and to those kids who – once upon a time ago – loved one of the best spots – ever – for live and local music.  

But there many more – 45 others, to be exact – that were composed with the best of intentions. We say “Thank You” because we believe people should do that more often; we explain ideas because, well, who doesn’t come up with a good one every once in a while; and we try to help by sharing information, raising awareness, and by rattling the bones of unresolved predicaments.

There is #52 that will be released tomorrow morning, and our OPEN LETTERs will continue in 2026 for all of the same reasons.
