#TrainerTipTuesday I have a challenge for you, next time you go somewhere where you park your car, park further away. Make a point in parking as far away from the door as you can, get those extra steps in every day. And suddenly before you know it, you've increased your activity level, you've increased your N.E.A.T (Non Exercise Activity Thermogenesis) NEAT is what you do when you're not sleeping or exercising, it's what you burn with activity through most of your day, since most people only spend about an hour actually working out. It's what we do, how much we burn the rest of the time. Are you just getting up, taking few steps to your car, driving to work, walking as few steps as possible to get to work and then sitting down at work, then driving to the gym (maybe), then back home and going to the couch. If that's the case you just spent most of the day sitting down. And that hour in the gym can only make up for so much of that. How about we start making small changes, like parking further away, and taking the stairs. Little things like that can make a difference when you're trying to get healthier and/or loose weight. Like me, I decided to stop parking in my usual spot at work (on this side of that white car) and go a little further away (the red car on the end is mine). This is about 50 steps or way, 100 extra steps back and forth, most days í come and leave 2x through the day. That's 200 extra steps a day. Yay! Nothing to loose there but extra activity I can easily incorporate into my busy day. Yeah yeah I know, you're over there thinking you're already on your feet all day what's few extra steps going to do. Well you won't know until you try do ya. The thing is, your body has already gotten used to you being in your feet all day, it's part of your daily routine, so your body has adjusted for that, do something different, add in something new and it might respond.
