Easy Decorative Sugar Cookie Icing Recipes
These cute carrot-shaped sugar cookies are ideal for spring or Easter treats. They're soft and buttery, with a sweet glaze icing on top.
Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder. 1/4 teaspoon salt. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened. 3/4 cup granulated sugar. 1 large egg. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Orange food coloring gel. Green food coloring gel. For Glaze Icing:. 1 cup powdered sugar. 1-2 tablespoons milk. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract.
Instructions: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Add a few drops of orange food coloring gel to the dough, mixing until the desired carrot color is achieved. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Take a portion of the chilled dough and roll it into a log shape, tapering one end to form a carrot shape. Place the shaped cookies on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. For the glaze icing, mix the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth and glossy. Once the cookies have cooled, drizzle the glaze icing over the carrot-shaped cookies. Use green food coloring gel to draw small carrot leaves at the tapered end of each cookie. Let the glaze set before serving and enjoying your delicious carrot-shaped sugar cookies!
