and i always love to write crygi! but i was thinking about crystal/jaida today so it's jaida time today (it's what she deserves) :)
"I don't know how I'll recover from this."
“You’re. like, stunning. That outfit looks really good on you.” The voice (and the tap on her shoulder) is coming from behind her, or really off to the side a little, and she turns quickly, for some reason startled.
Jaida’s met with colors and patterns and a girl standing in all of it, grinning.
“You’ve sure got a lot of colors.” It’s out of her mouth before she even realizes she says it, but after she does she snaps her jaw closed, covering her mouth. The girl looks like she’s about to laugh, but Jaida doesn’t let her. “Oh my god I’m so sorry. That’s a compliment. You’re cute too, girl.” She’s probably too wide-eyed. But she’s still distracted by… her. Her colors and her patterns and her face. "I don't know how I'll recover from this."
The girl finally laughs, and it's cute too. "You don't have to. You're right."
And it’s true. Now that she’s had a second to figure out what’s happening, the girl’s outfit makes an odd, maximalist sort of sense. She pulls it off, that’s for sure—and she pulls off the little satisfied smile on her face, too.
“I’m Crystal. Could I buy you a drink?”
And she’s forward. She likes that too.
“I’m buying, Miss Crystal, it’s the least I can do.” She smiles, offering her arm, and Crystal happily takes it. “I’m Jaida,” she says, leaning closer to say it in her ear, pretending it was because of the pretty-loud-but-not-overbearing music and not the desire to see the tips of her ears turn red. It’s satisfying when they do, and it affirms to her that she made the right choice—maybe not all night, but at least for one drink. “Lead the way.”
