Nic's been recovering from top surgery and listen...gotta have something to do while you're caretaking! Personally I've read six of the Monstrous books in ten days. Please help me.

We got this beautiful special edition collection of the first four books (plus a novella) from Renegade Romance and I am a known easy sell on monster fucking, so I was expecting to enjoy them. I was not expecting to enjoy them a "six books in ten days" amount. But here we are.

Anyway, this is a series about the human world being swarmed by monsters and falling into shambles, and about how monsters are not always the most monstrous things out there, and about the military industrial complex, and about gay sex. Not necessarily in that order, depending on the book. The monsters are new and spicy and weird, the writing is funny and personable, and I'm in love with the interwoven narratives. Each book follows a different couple (mostly from the human's POV), and I LOVE getting to see previous protagonists from outside perspectives. Especially when everyone around them thinks they're absolutely bonkers.

Incredibly highly recommended! I'm having a great time.

Rush and Gloam

two mud hybrid boys i dug out of the archives with my bare hands !! Rush is an ollddd characters i obtained and drew many years ago, and Gloam is an even older design i got on toyhouse and finally gave a redesign! they are brothers now, and I’ve revised them to be Mud/Sea/Night because im a tribrid fiend…

they’re going to be magic students of some kind but i haven’t altogether decided what they’ll study. their dynamic is all i really have written down; Rush is down-to-earth and curious while Gloam is anxious and very flaky. they’d be great 80s sitcom mad scientist style lab partners

@frogandbird, I made a ref for the baby we got from @tamale4prez! Look how cute!

He got his bandana while I was sketching this out, so I had to include it since he loves it so much. Poor thing will be so sad when he grows out of it. He felt left out since all the other familiars in the family have tags of their owners, but he doesn't since he's much too young to bond to anyone. Maybe he'll get a tag once he leaves his momma's care and picks someone from the family he likes best, even if he still won't be able to bond with them for a long time. So to make him happy, the youngest in the family made that tiny bandanna for him. He loves it and won't take it off.

Only once he got it, was the family able to get him to sit still long enough to update the size ref/ familiar family portrait.

He's so tiny! Even smaller than Boggin! Everyone will have to check where he is whenever they walk anywhere to avoid accidentally stepping on him.

He really likes impressing his mother. Whether learning to cheep or being able to walk without his hands. Praise is his weakness X3
