Day 1/150 studying for the GMAT.

Spent a quiet, cold day studying in the library. Yesterday, I found a bunch of GMAT books at the thrift store and I picked up the Princeton Review Prep book from the library today. I'm studying everything, especially the match from scratch- as in acting as if I know nothing at all. My math skills have never been great and I'd rather start over than miss something or spend longer confusing myself.

What I got done today:

🪶 The first 200 pages of the Princeton Prep book 🪶 3 pages of GMAT notes 🪶 Found a GMAT math review course on Coursera 🪶 Unit 6.2 in my Coursera Data Analysis course- as that's still going 🪶 Typed out all of my random notes from work 🪶 Did some data cleaning for work 🪶 Got a bunch of skincare to start a routine

Just recovered from being sick- and now that it's freezing out getting sick or doing absolutely anything is the worst feeling ever <3. In other life update news, my father and I have been working on starting another business together- mostly just for my career and skill development rather than for profit.

Planning to write the test end of the week. I’m still not sure whether I’m ready?!

I’ll do another mock exam on Wednesday and decide then whether to take the test on Friday or not. Unfortunately, the application for my business school opens soon and I want to have the test out of my mind to focus on the application. I really hope that I don’t have to do it again. We will see ...

Hi Mr. ENTJ, big fan and long-time follower here. 2 questions from my end: (1) What is your motivation for taking an MBA? You seem highly accomplished, well-paid, and well-connected. Super curious to understand what value you see it gives (I am contemplating on taking one). (2) Why did you opt to take the GRE instead of the GMAT? You think one has an advantage over the other? Thanks so much!!

To your questions:

1. It removes a potential roadblock for my path to the executive level, it adds another network of highly accomplished people with valuable skills and connections to leverage, it bolsters credibility for fundraising if I want to raise funding for my own startup in the future (investors look at credentials and networks when investing in new companies), and it rounds out my educational toolkit because I don't have a traditional business background.

2. I've taken the GRE before for my first master's degree and scored well so I knew how to attack it going in and the GRE has more straightforward quant (math) than the GMAT. I'm confident I could crush the GMAT quant section but it would require more preparation (time, energy, money for prep courses + materials) than the GRE. I only studied 2 weeks for the GRE and got it out of the way.

2:57pm // I got next to nothing done these last couple days but I’m supposed to watch Soul tonight with some friends over zoom so I’m hoping to get all of this done before then so I can feel less stressed about everything.

2nd January - Have you made any New Years’ Resolutions?

I decided that I would start the winter study challenge by @myhoneststudyblr. With working full time and studying, it’s hard and I figured this might be a nice way to motivate myself.

As for new year’s resolutions, I don’t know if I have any. I have a couple goals for this year:

Take the GMAT and score above a 740.

Run 75 times and 232 miles

Normally I have this massive list of goals, but for some reason, this year, that’s all I want to commit to. Nothing else.

Day 2/100 of being productive.

I fell sick today and spent most of my day sleeping so I really couldn't paint anything. I feel really sad about it but hoping to get well soon and get back to painting.

I was a little productive today though (if that counts).

I did a little GMAT prep ( sentence corrections) and even IELTS prep (only the listening part). I didn't really spend an awfully lot of time on it coz I had no energy at all.

Also, I really hope to be more productive from tomorrow onwards.

Been in my bed all day, didn't move at all.
