I've been thinking about stiles, for parts of my goat yard where it would be nice to be able to get in and out, but where I don't want to go to the trouble/expense of putting in extra gates. Looking at different styles of stiles. The common step over type seem like they'd work well for cattle, or heavy sheep, but goats would just use them to step right over after you. Are there any kinds that do work for goats?
The first two seem like they might work well, but they're also complicated. Might as well build a diy gate, for the same amount of effort.
The V-shaped one reminded me of the triangular jump gates I've seen people use to allow their LGDs access to an area while excluding goats. I do not know how true it is that goats don't like to step through an opening that's narrower at the bottom.
The success of the ladder ones depends on goat athleticism, and maybe the shape of the rungs? I don't want to be giving them ideas with my coming and going.
Calling all goat owners: thoughts? Will any of these work, or can you imagine a stile that would contain goats and allow my passage?
The last one I included bc, though I found it in a collection of stile pics, it's just a weird gate with extra parts. Why not just use a gate? But then I realized: this is a gate that people cannot accidentally leave open, as you basically have to close it one way or the other in order for you to get yourself out. Clever!
