What was the instigating factor which led you down into the dark path of fandoms?: It wasn't really a need to get away from my own life, if that's what you mean. Not consciously anyway. It was more the incredible grabby-grab feeling I had to have/see more of the characters and stories than just canon. There are always so many sides to a game or a book or a movie- even the author/creator(s) themselves can't always plant each bit in. It's fantastically fulfilling to watch other people run with the idea and create more of what was or could be.
What did you want to be when you grew up?: An architect. Or the first human copy machine, after a particular conversation with my grandmother about my ambidexterity.
What stopped you from doing so?: The fact that as much as I love mathematics, I do not love it enough to spend my life worrying about being a 1/16th of an inch off and watching my house fall in. And the fact we were joking.
Cats or dogs?: Cats, though living in Chicago has really showed me how awesome dogs are too.
Would you rather only one friend who is incredibly close, or many many friends but none who are particularly close?: One friend who is incredibly close- I prefer quality over quantity and anyway, the alternative puts too many faceless names into my address book.
If there was one thing you could change about yourself what would it be?: My teeth. I hate my teeth. I wish they were whiter, straighter, and prettier almost every day.
Which superpower would you have?: This may not count as a superpower, I suppose, but I’ve always wished I could be a fire, wind, or water elemental. Advantages and disadvantages to both, but there’s something incredibly appealing to me about the idea of nature at its strongest being a force to reckon with. That and Roy Mustang’s finger snap producing flames kind of had me foaming at the mouth from the very beginning.
Tell us one thing no one else knows: Sometimes I wonder if I should have majored in something else that included desks and cubicles, rather than cameras and clients, because I feel eternally lazy in comparison with my fellow freelancers.
Ultimate fantasy?: Riding a wind surfer and rocking at it. Or Hogwarts. Which technically gives me a wind surfer-like broom and Quidditch. So Hogwarts.
Favourite dessert?: Something with mint-chocolate. Probably a bowl of ice cream or a shake.

I don't think I'll tag anyone else because it would likely just end up as a never-ending tagging cycle amongst ourselves, but I will answer the three lots of questions I got tagged with.
If there was one thing that I could definitely make happen before the end of 2012 it would be getting high enough marks to get into Honours.
If there was one thing I could change about 2011 it would be to make more money so I could have travelled around (and gone to Harry Potter World) whilst I was in the States
If I could travel anywhere in the world right now it would be to the UK
If I had to live in another culture for a year it would be the BBC tv crew (shut up that's so a real culture!) (failing that, Wizarding Britain :p )
I dislike 'favourite X' questions because my tastes change all the time depending on a myriad of factors and I don't know why I can't just love multiple things, but atm for favourite animal I'd have to say cats
atm I'd say 'favourite' book would be Stephen Fry's The Liar (but that's because I recently gave it a re-read)
Argh, I can't even say with much certainty what my favourite character of any particular named series etc is, let alone choose from all characters ever... I'm going to have to say Yuki Nagato, Rory Williams, John Watson, Remus Lupin, Sokka and other various characters down those lines (yes I see them all cut from the same cloth and yes I have a soft spot for that type of character) and Korra (because whilst currently watching LOK I'm loving what they're doing with her)
If I live to be 100 I want to have become a prolific author that mercilessly trolls my fans

If I had one year to live I'd work out a way to get to see the UK, then I'd write for as long as possible to try and at least finish the transcript of a novel I'll force someone to promise to publish once I'm gone
No I don't believe in soul mates, yes people are capable of forming deep, meaningful relationships that last a lifetime, but no relationship will be 100% perfect, and it doesn't mean that there's only a certain someone/s for everyone
Even If told there wouldn't be consequences for changing the past I'd still know/believe that that wouldn't be true, and I don't know enough about history to pinpoint an event that changing would create a preferable future. So if I did have that ability I'd probably end up using it to save the Library of Alexandria or something
I'd like to think I'd have the strength of knowledge to save a thousand strangers before a semi-close relative, but logic doesn't have much to do with personal morals. Let's just say I'd hope I can chose to see the thousand, but it would be very tough.

As a kid I wanted to grow up to be an author, and either acting as Hermione in the inevitable tv remakes of HP or Ellie in the Tomorrow Series movie
Nothing is stopping me from becoming an author!! (well, apart from my keen procrastination skills), but I never became Hermione due to my age, my nationality and the current lack of an HP remake, and I never became Ellie because they only started making/casting the movie after I'd stopped looking out for any casting calls (and I'm ignoring the fact that my utter lack of acting talent has anything to do with it)
