Suncatcher Canvas 🌞
Been gold leafing a lot of canvases for next weekend. Here's another one of my illustrations that i finished yesterday! Beyond excited (and a little exhausted prepping) for Dragon Con! Hope to see some familiar faces along with some new ones! I'll be in the Artist Alley B50 and B51! 🐉

Happy fan art Friday!
Gold leafing is so satisfying. 😍
Have you noticed that the gold taps that look so dated, are making an updated comeback? So, I think it’s time to drop in on Lara, The Gold Leaf Queen, for some ideas. Check out her fireplace.
She has a very creative home, and loves to use gold leaf. She even has a gold disco ball- look at it shine in the living room/dining combo.
Lara had no money to decorate, so she took a crash course in YouTube DIY. Look at the interesting wall hanging she created.
Getting creative is one way to not only decorate a home on a budget but more importantly, create a home that is unique and as individual as the people that live there.
Rather than shopping mainstream retailers, Lara has sourced most pieces for her home from reclamation yards, second-hand shops and eBay. It’s also a much more sustainable approach to updating your home.
Lara has added her own personal stamp by up-cycling, painting and gold leafing/gilding. In this guest room, she gold leafed the headboard trim.
Lara’s love of using gold leaf started a few years ago. One of the first projects she used copper leaf on, was an old roll-top tub that she bought from eBay. It shows the level of her skill and eye for detail.
Lara has experimented with gold leaf murals and even the ceiling has undergone her creative touch. Metal leafing/gilding is definitely something to consider if you want to add a luxe look on a tight budget. And the possibilities are endless!
Lara’s become known as the Gold Leaf Queen and has started here own workshops so you can learn too! Check out her website for more details. (https://www.larabezzina.co.uk/)
Lara says paint is definitely your friend when it comes to freshening up your homes on a budget. And it’s not just for your walls either.
Displaying your clothes instead of hiding them adds a more relaxed look. And if you dress how you decorate, your clothes can become a part of your decor. She also has a free gold leaf tutorial on her instagram page.

Gold leafing gives added depth to this mythological beast, but do you know its name?
Finally finished two Chitauri Scepters for shipping yesterday. I didn’t get the chance to take some actual good presentation photos but they at least shipped in time to be available for someones Infinity War adventure!
Here is proof that it was gold leafed. I know it doesn’t look like it was, but the reflection of actual metal flake is very obvious in person as even under the paint it still shines.
Enjoy a sneak peak at my mess.
This is as complicated as the electronics get on these builds. I’m thinking that in the future I’ll make it so that you can use one battery at a time with these LEDs. Since it will accept it, that way you could have a dimmer lit jewel for photos. Maybe you like it super bright. I’m not your mom.
In other news, I posted a full build on the piece (before the gold flaking) on my YouTube. If I wasn’t so busy currently, I might do more.
