Werewolves

A/N: my first of a few different info/reference sheets for the species in Goldenleaf! Most adhere to common lore to some extent but I like to change things up and make them funky

Anatomy of a Werewolf

More notes below cut ^^

> one of two species to have two forms (the others being selkies). Werewolves shift based on moon cycles and weather conditions. It’s usually about a week long period centered around the full moon. It’s involuntary and when it happens it’s from sunset to sunrise

> there is a type of suppressant made from wolfsbane that can stop them from turning during the cycle (except for specific conditions like blue moons and other moon phenomena), but it’s prescription only due to health risks

> they retain their memory in were form but their instincts change so while they may remember someone who’s close to them, they might act possessive or avoidant depending on their root heritage. It’s like a 30/70 split on human mind and primal mind

> speaking of which, the type of canine they are reflects somewhat in how their instincts work. A wolf based werewolf will be somewhat more aggressive, while coyotes are more skittish.

> Some werewolves are able to get a really good control over their primal side though practice and discipline, and in some cases that means they can choose to shift on nights outside the moon cycle

> when shifted they tend to stay clear of other people, with the exception of family and other werewolf friends. While they’re not inherently dangerous, their instincts do mean that they need to be wary of how they could react to an unexpected situation. Meaning that most werewolves stay in their homes or secluded areas while shifted

Fauns/Satyrs

A/N: kinda died for a moment, art motivations being killed by moving house, but I threw together some stuff for little hoofed fellows

> much like actual deer, fauns shed their antlers once a year, and it’s not uncommon to see a faun with one antler awkwardly missing during this time. Satyrs however don’t lose their horns, they just keep growing for the rest of their lives.

> speaking of which, satyrs take a lot of pride in their horns, keeping them in good condition, and even making them a statement piece by adorning them with jewellery. There’s even a growing practice of brave satyrs (and fauns) getting their horns/antlers engraved.

> a good majority of satyrs and fauns with larger species heritage (think moose and buffalo, and so forth) naturally have more muscle to accomodate their horns/antlers, which makes it easier for them to gain muscle mass.

> a fun bonus fact, lots of faun parents like to keep their kids first few antler sheds, like keeping kids baby teeth <3

Goldenleaf Town info

Aka where I’m gonna dump all the world building information and town lore !!

> first off, there’s actually two towns, Goldenleaf and Honeymaw, but I just refer to them together

> Goldenleaf is situated on the edge of a forest, and is very nature centric, lots of trees and parks. And of course it got its name from the way the leaves change colour in autumn

> Honeymaw isn’t too far away, on the other side of a lake between the towns. It’s a bit less nature inspired, but still a super nice place. Lots of fishing and income from the lake, and they have a popular ferry that takes people between the towns.

> Goldenleaf values community highly, and every first weekend of the month they hold a market for towns members to sell their wares, whether that be food, firewood, clothes, or anything else.
