Idk if you've been asked this before, but how popular do you think these extreme pro-Palestine views are outside of social media/internet? Because the posts on this website, Twitter etc. get a lot of likes, but is that the case in general or just online? I'm aware of the extreme protestors and their groups irl but I'm not sure how pervasive these views are to the general public, and I was wondering if you might know. It's pretty scary to think that most people actually believe this stuff.
Thats a really tough question to answer and yet it’s one that I’ve asked myself many times before.
for what it’s worth, I think that the crazies on the internet are an extremist fringe. However, their antisemitic discourse has absolutely trickled down into the general population, a venom that found its home in the buried strata of millennia of Jew hatred.
the vast majority of people do not care or know that much about Israel and Palestine, but will gladly and without second thought share blood libel if it is worded in the right way. Outright, open antisemitism is still taboo in modern western society, but there’s a low level of antisemitism, a sort of cosmic background judenhass, that never went away and is extremely pervasive.
