#goodreads alternative

In 2024 I want to further distance myself from Amazon so I'm looking for alternative book trackers to Goodreads.

I'm mad autistic for lists and data collection so that's what I look for the most but the social aspect is also ok. Currently thinking of Storygraph, I heard that one mentioned a lot.

Hey, if you guys like Goodreads but hate how awkward it can be to find books that interest you on the site, then there’s this new site called Storygraph that has a MUCH better recommendation algorithm.

You can even import your Goodreads data into it, so you won’t lose a thing!

The site is in beta right now but it is already more user friendly than goodreads.

You can find books based on you current reading mood, the genre, the pace and the page length.

And when you review a book you can add to those qualifiers so other readers know what to expect. (You can also give half star reviews!)

And when viewing a books page you can see the breakdown of how other people felt about it because, as we all know, no two people will see a book in the exact same way.

The reading goal is still available but it's not on every single page you look at, reminding you of your failure to follow through with your plans.

Do you want to see your reading habits broken down into easy to understand pie charts and graphs. (Honestly this isn't something that I knew I wanted. But I am LOVING it!)

There are also a lot of different challenges available if you want to try your hand at reading outside your comfort zone or if you want to connect with others that have similar reading tastes.

There is a survey that you can take about your general reading tastes and the site will curate a book list to your tastes. This survey can be retaken at any time.

And for those of you that have been using goodreads for years and don't want to start over or rewrite all of your reviews, there is an import option.

As of the time I am writing this Storygraph does not have an app and is only available through the website. The import option and the survey are also currently running slowly due to increased traffic but remember that this is still in beta testing.

trying Fable and storygraph as a goodreads alternative

I really hate goodreads but haven't really tried anything else these 2 or interesting so far.
