Google Material Design specifications for icons.
Explores and explains easy to digest iconography design tips. There’s a lot of illustration of simple do and don’t situations. The novelty is in the expansive examples and uniformity of simple design suggestion. There is also good commentary on color, form, balance, and keeping true to how an icon is supposed to represent given material.
I know in looking through these there are a handful of issues that I struggled with that may have been prevented had I found and read this first. I think most important is the details which matter to Google should - in one way or form - matter to us as designers or devs.
If icons aren’t your thing, be sure to check out the other material design specs from Google. Maybe try typography, approach to gesture education, or documentation on scrolling techniques.
