265. The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975 (Goran Olsson, Sweden, 2011)
Documentary must watch: Concerning Violence based on Franz Fanon’s Wretched of the Earth, much of the footage is dug from Swedish archive. Its a completely unforgiving look into the inherent heart of the infrastructure of colonialism: violence. And how the colonised use this as a means of reacting to this domination.
CONCERNING VIOLENCE (GÖRAN OLSSON, 2014)
CONCERNING VIOLENCE, the Lauryn Hill-narrated documentary on colonialism and the impact of exploitation around the world, is shared with the trailer and explanation from director, Göran Olsson. After making the Black Power Mixtape, Olsson's latest film is seen here, at the Sheffield Doc Festival episode of BYOD.
Thomas Sankara in Concerning Violence (Olsson, 2014)
I love the perspective on the film/Fanon presented here: http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jul/21/-sp-frantz-fanon-documentary-concerning-violence
I peeped an article title Remixing the BBC about a documentarian Adam Curtis.
His work reminds me of Black Power Mix Tape and Concerning Violence aesthetic from filmmaker Goran Olsson.
Both filmmakers have a their own styles and are exploring audiovisual patterns that express the story themes with archival footage.
Check out their work if you have the chance.
