But speaking of which, I forgot to mention this while I was actually watching the episode but I really like how Lee’s response to Barbara telling her that Jim killed someone for a known crime lord to get his job back was. Yeah I know. I love him anyway. We ALL make mistakes sometimes. Girl that’s a mistake the vast majority of us will never make 😭

If Oswald Cobblepot Complained to Everyone About Ed Getting Together With Lee (aka: Everyone in Gotham Admires Lee Thompkins 😍)

Oswald: I can't believe Ed's dating Lee! Jim Gordon: Agreed, he's not worthy of her. Oswald: ...Yes, exactly, but, well, you would know, wouldn't you? Her flaws. Jim: *sighs* Nothing compared to his. Oswald: So you like her for her better morals? Jim: Well, no, but she is an admirable woman. Oswald: Not that pretty, though? Jim: Oswald! She is very pretty. Have you...have you seen her?? Oswald: *takes a deep breath* Yes.

Later Oswald to Barbara Kean: Don't you think Ed and Lee are a bad thing? Barbara: Mhm, yeah, but I'm trying to focus on Tabitha these days. Oswald: Come on!! This—! Ed is...is... What does he see in her? Barbara: Beauty, intelligence, style?  That bit of darkness Jim doesn't wanna admit he has too? Oswald: Oh, spare me your compliments.

Later, at his place: Oswald: Butch, Victor, I have gathered you here today to tell me your opinions on Lee Thompkins. Butch: I think she won't be that big of a threat, but I heard people like her. And she's clearly pretty, so some people migh— Oswald: —Victor? What is your opinion? Victor: Totally agree. If Falcone had ordered me to kill Jim Gordon for her, I wouldn't have done it that happily cause his looks during fights are soo amusing, but I mean, for Mrs. Thompkins? Oswald: Oh. My. Gosh!

That night Bruce Wayne: *in the Iceberg Lounge in suspicious gear* Mr. Cobblepot. Hello. Oswald: You're not here to talk trash about Lee Thompkins, are you? Bruce: Of course not. Alfred Pennyworth, appearing to save Bruce: Lee is here? 😯 Oswald: No. 🙄 Lucius Fox, appearing to save Alfred and Bruce: Is everything alright in here? Oswald: And you're attracted to Miss Thompkins too, I assume? Lucius: Well, no, but— Oswald: Great— Lucius: She was my boss at the precinct, so to speak. Very attractive. Just not my...type. but clever

Later Selina Kyle: What ruined your evening? Oswald: Lee Thompkins. Opinions on her? Selina: Uhhh...She wears cheap necklaces? Oswald: There! Finally, someone with— Selina: —which is smart, cause...people like me. 💁‍♀️ Oswald: 😤

ok hot take but I don't think Oswald is the villain of Gotham, I think he's just a main character who happens to be the villain in comics

I'm not saying Oswald is a good person in Gotham by any means, like he literally kills, tortured and sometimes eats people, but he's not THE villain. because ultimately Gotham is about, well, Gotham. The REAL villains are the characters who don't care/actively want to destroy Gotham (so for example Eduardo) and by this analogy characters who want to save Gotham are the heroes.

Jim, Oswald and Bruce all put Gotham above anything else, they all love the city, which is also reflected in their personal relationships LET ME EXPLAIN

so first let's look at Jim - he loves Gotham, he wants to protect it and its people. We see this reflected mostly in his relationships with Lee and Barbara in earlier seasons, he wants to keep them separate from his dangerous life even if it tarnished the relationship just to make sure they're safe

now Bruce - he wants to fix Gotham, to heal it and we definitely see this in his relationship with Selina. He wants to change her into something she's not, refusing to see her flaws, convincing himself that under his influence she can be "redeemed" and quit her life of crime

and finally Oswald - he wants to rule Gotham, to own it. That of course is reflected in his jealousy over Edward and the whole Isabella fiasco - he feels as like he has a right to Edward, as if no one else is allowed to "have" him
