Rant about Lee x Edward

I've seen a lot of people talk about how "if Lee x Edward was gay you would eat it up" or "you're just mad they aren't Nygmobblepot" and I think this point is stupid as fuck. The problem with them isn't that they're straight or that they're not Nygmob, the problem is that it doesn't make any sense for Lee and they aren't mutually toxic. Edward caused Lee's miscarriage, he framed her fiancé for murder and got him sent to Blackgate, killer her friend (Kristen) and what did Lee do in return? NOTHING. stabbing him once barely covers it. Technically he didn't do those things to directly cause her harm but SHE WAS HEAVILY AFFECTED. it also makes no sense for Lee to think of him romantically or sexually given what he has done.

Do they have cool moments together? Yes absolutely, but when you remember the context of their characters at that point in the show it just gets icky. And the ship is just unfair to Lee, she didn't need a love interest, SHE WAS ALREADY INTERESTING ON HER OWN. I can definitely see the ship in s1 but that's IT.

Ok I haven’t done one of these for a while but I have another Gotham writing prompt. How would you change Lee’s character arc in season 3 and 4? Because I feel like we can all agree that her arc went into some… interesting places.

Oswald is an awful person who has the capacity to be kind and treat other people nicely (specifically the people he actually cares about) when he feels like it, and Lee is a good person who has the capacity to commit genuinely bad deeds and treat people pretty poorly. Btw

Complaining aside, I do love how Lee is just a fundamentally kind person who wants to do the right thing. I do really like her wanting to go with Nora even if it would put her in danger.

I have watched Gotham three times, three fucking times and I still refuse to watch the double date in season two with Kristen, Edward, Lee and Jim. I am not physically and or mentally capable of handling a double date scene in any context it kills a part of me.
