One army, a real army, united behind one leader with one purpose.
i was reading a ‘TV Guide’ article, a ranking of game of thrones episodes cause i’m a little got shit and i came across the worst typo i have ever seen in my entire life. they spelt meera’s name, y’know, one of the best characters on game of thrones, i could go on about her forever but she killed her little brother so he wouldn’t kill her, bran, hodor and summer, swore an oath to protect bran, watched hodor, summer and the children of the forest sacrifice themselves for bran because the white walkers tried to kill them, dragged his ass all the way back to winterfell in his sled and he wasn’t even grateful for it, and you have the AUDACITY to misspell her name?! nah bitch. myra is the name of my dentist not the girl who sacrificed everything in her life for bran and was told that he didn’t need her anymore. i’m actually pissed off sorry go back to scrolling i’m done now...
Totally pumped over Theon deciding to be a person and rescuing Sansa. But I'm sure something awful will happen to them soon because this is game of thrones and no one can be happy.
character moodboard: Daenerys Targaryen
I mean no disrespect to the OP who took the time to GIF this, but this post has appeared several times on my dash and I just can't ignore or hold it in any longer:
This is only a parallel if you completely disregard context!
On the one hand, you have Jon threatening but ultimately showing mercy towards an "adviser" who burned a child alive by only banishing her. On the other hand, you have Daenerys threatening to burn one of her advisers alive for a hypothetical betrayal, i.e. promising to show him NO mercy.
This also nicely underlines Jon's deep aversion to the use of fire as method of execution (Mance, Shireen) versus Daenerys' inclination towards burning people alive. Show!Jon appears to be so disgusted by this practice he couldn't stand by idly as Mance burned to death and ended up mercy-killing him to spare him this particularly cruel death (and hereby showed his compassionate side again). He also decided to banish a powerful red priestess who not only brought him back to life but could have proven useful to him still. Yet he cut all ties with her because of her hand in the sacrificial immolation of Shireen. If anything, this is a juxtaposition, not a parallel. Jon & Daenerys are foils to one another, nothing more, nothing less.
The same goes for the dialogue between Jon & Mance in season 5 that got recycled in the cave scene in season 7. This is often used as a "parallel" between Jon & Dany.
"Isn't their survival more important than your pride?"
Again, this is a superficial interpretation of those two scenes. In context, Dany = Stannis in this scenario and Jon = Mance.
In short:
Context matters!
(I also find it unbelievable that 1000+ people liked and reblogged this "parallel", yet no one seems to have raised this objection?)
