Y'all I just picked up on this, but the score that plays during the scene where Peter and Ego are playing catch parallels the score that plays during Yondu's sacrifice/death.
Except, the score, when played during Peter and Ego’s father-son reunion, is more soft and subtle. While the one that plays during the time Yondu has already passed, while Quill is in pain over the death of his real dad, the music is more powerful and emotional.
Holy FRICK. This makes everything a thousand times worse.
