Random Gothicverse lore!
Reißzhan-Wut werewolves (like Rampage and Major Fischer) are born as wolves, and gain the ability to turn into humans when they reach adolescence. Their pharyngeal humanoid jaw and secondary trachea (with human vocal chords) develop long before they gain the ability to transform. This gives them the ability to speak human language and speak the true language of Werewolves from around four years of age, though they can understand both around age two.
Once their pharyngeal jaws start to develop, they start exhibiting behaviors of instinctively walking on their hind legs. They can only manage a few steps at a time (moving similarly to dogs trained to walk upright as a performance trick) but it helps develop their sense of balance and upright perspective for the day they undergo their first transformation.
As adults, Reißzhan-Wut are contemptuous towards humans, but as pups they are very curious about them. They attentively observe humans and try to make sense of their language, and find their bipedal motion fascinating. When they reach their first transformation (usually around age ten) they make use of their human hands to craft necklaces that they keep on in beast form, and apply thick face paint to themselves that stains their fur when they revert back to beast form. The signature face paint pattern they choose as adolescents stays with them for life, as a mark of identity and symbol of maturity and autonomy.
Almost all Moonlight Hounds have male parentage on their wolf side. This is because even if a Reißzhan She-Wolf became pregnant with a human, her beast form would be unable to carry a human embryo to term. Reißzhan-Wut remain in beast form over 90% of the time. Remaining in human form long enough to carry a pregnancy to term is almost unheard of. Doing so intentionally is considered absolute madness, though it does happen in extremely rare circumstances. Occasionally, Reißzhan She-Wolves will intentionally birth Moonlight Hounds when they've been banished from their pack. They do so as an act of vengeance, knowing that a new Moonlight Hound means a new Hunter will eventually be initiated.
The Reißzhan-Wut have their own language, and it can only be spoken by werewolves. This is because properly pronouncing Reißzhan-Wutisch requires the simultaneous of both canine and humanoid vocal chords. Vocalizations similar to the sounds of the Reißzhan-Wutisch language can be heard occasionally in Der Wolfsjäger, when bestial growls and cries merge with human vocalizing. Werewolves do this instinctively when they're in pain, even if they don't speak Reißzhan-Wutisch.
Their langauge contains its own oral tradition. Endemic songs, legends, and even religious prophecies are part of their culture. The legend of the Bestienkönig is the most well known (to the point that it's spread to the other werewolf clades) but they have others as well. Fables, myths, legends, and cautionary tales all exist in their oral tradition. Their tales of Wolf Hunters are culturally similar to the stories humans tell about werewolves, in that Hunters are depicted as both the antagonists of horror stories as well as a subject of fascination. Much like in human stories about werewolves, Hunters in Reißzhan-Wut folktales often appear as unlikely allies in battles against vampires.
The existence of Mondlichthunde is so funny actually. Human girl is horny for a werewolf, gets pregnant and bam, kid wants to kill daddy. It's like the universe is punishing the poor woman for being a monsterfucker like "hah, you banged a werewolf, now watch your kid and babydaddy fight to death"
Also, what if it's the other way around? If it's a human guy and a female werewolf (a wifwolf? Since 'were' means man?). Can a female werewolf get pregnant from a human? And if so, is the kid human, werewolf or Mondlichthund?
“How can I fear death, when it has walked with me all along?”
tell me about this shock guy of yours i'm intrigued
Edmund Shock my 1880s gothic mad scientist slash dandy worstie oc..
Like most wealthy Victorian children he had an extremely isolated and controlling childhood which was furthered by his parents dying mysteriously... From a very young age he basically always had a deep hatred for society, he preferred to spend time with books, and he had a particular facination with the human body.
I'm not really sure when it starts but he somehow ends up murdering people (particularly those who're close to him, or who he views as a threat. ie anyone who isn't a white, rich man) for experiments in creating life ala frankanstien. but generally its pretty easy for him to get away with shit due to being rich and a 'scientist'.
A lot of Edmund's Issues also stem from being gay (and hating all women which ill come back to). I'm not sure of the details yet but he has one, or a series of different lovers, and maybe he attempts to make one out of. parts he has. but whatever happens it certainly does not end well for them :).
When he's in his 20s, Poppy, Edmund's younger second cousin who lives in the country arrives at his doorstep to be his ward. She is recently an orphan, so she hopes to find some common ground and hopefully marry him (bc that was seen as normal back then) . But Edmund, who never read the letter indicating that she was coming, is suddenly alarmed and threatened by her presence bc he fears she will discover his secret. So without hesitation, she's brutally murdered, i think. maybe she'll come back as a ghost or something idk.
As time goes on, Edmund is pressured more and more to get a wife and have children, or people will start talking. But instead of just, getting a lavender wife, or something Edmund is like. fuck it. I'll just make a homonculus daughter (aptly named Dolly) and pretend i actually had a wife all along who died of turburculosis or some shit and he does :)
He obviously dies a tragic but inevitable death or something i haven't worked out the details yet...
^doodle of the guys
“A Day to Mourn”
Fun fact! When Gothicverse werewolves talk, they open their jaws wide. As they speak, you can see their inner, human mouth articulating in the back of their throat while their wolf jaws remain stationary.
I need you to imagine this when listening to Der Wolfsjäger. Vividly. It is crucial.
