I swear, a lot of fics always note how grimy and dirty Gotham is (I mean, c’mon, Scarecrow, Ivy, Joker, Gotham-aesthetic—) and how dense the air can be. But honestly, I have this head canon in mind that Gothamites are like, and obsessively clean at times. Like. The city is dirty, yes, but you can get sick because your dirty.

Like, Gotham, out of all the cities, has the best water filteration system. Like, it’s a Thing that tourist have to try Gotham’s water because, holy shit, this is Crispy™️.

Gotham probably has the most Clean Air initiatives because of how often the city might get gassed by Ivys Pollen, Fear Gas, Laughing Gas, etc. It makes sense.

You cannot tell me that Gotham won’t do the damnest to be safe and clean.

Also imagine this: Quarantine has hit and no one in Gotham really complains about the mask mandates or social distancing. They’ve done this song and dance before. It’s not uncommon to see Gothamites wear full on gas masks like it’s fucking Vietnam.

Like... Gotham can be dark a deary but it is not dirty. Not if any Gen-Z Gotham teenagers have to say anything about it.
