Buck will give and give until, like in that guilt-trip of a book Eddie’s mom used to read to him before bed, he’s nothing more than a ground down tree stump.
But not Eddie. Maybe it’s not a positive personality trait, but Eddie always ensures both sides of the ledger balance. It’s one reason he and Buck work so well. Or used to work so well.
And it’s why he’s at their kitchen table texting Buck, who is sitting approximately twelve feet away on the couch in their dark living room, about exactly which sex acts add up to one rent payment.
Eddie:
You can’t tell me that was enough to pay my half of the rent.
“That” being one handjob. For days after it happened, Eddie couldn’t bring himself to put what they’d done into words. But now that it’s just another line item, the term comes easier.
